MUJI - Acacia Plate - XS

Ordered in the XL (10”). While I appreciate this is at least partially handcrafted, It’s frustratingly far from being a perfect circle; it measures under 10” in some spots and over 10” in others. If ‘rustic’ and irregular is what you’re after, this will fit the bill. The listing also doesn’t mention that it only has a 6” flat bottom—the sides are coupe style, almost like what they call a “flat bowl”. There’s a dramatic 1” high lip, far higher than your standard dining plate, and this feels exacerbated due to the curvature starting 2” from the edge inward. As I purchased it to use as a centerpiece base, I was super bummed that I had so little real estate… and further disappointed that even the 6” bottom was thicker on one side, thus further reducing the usable flat space! I placed a teeny bud vase and small candle on it and from across the room it was so noticeable that the items sat at a lean, as if out to sea. However, I do really like that It’s an absolutely gorgeous shade of acacia. (When I order acacia online I always seem to get the light beige tones, the ones that look more like bamboo or oak, but this deep and rich). The listing clearly states cosmetic markings will occur… but mine arrived pretty dusty and with scratches and flaws that didn't make it appetizing for serving food. I really don't know if I can find a use for this.
