1849 P Liberty $20 Double Eagle Tribute by American Coin Treasures - Gold-Layered Mint State Collectible Display Piece

This looks like a proof coin. The 24 carat gold covering is very nicely done! I see that the mintage of this coin, with the 1849 date is: 1. That one is in the Smithsonian Institute's collection. The subsequent dates of this same design were in general circulation.

From a distance this looks great, but you aren't going to fool anyone who knows what the real ones look like. It is very shiny, almost like a proof. It does not have the muted gold toning of an original coin. I got this as a prank to play on someone metal detecting, so it is perfect for that purpose.

I've started collecting gold coins. I really wanted to have one around to look at but obviously it's not smart to store coins like this in an unsecured area. This was a great compromise. I get a beautiful, brilliant coin to look at and keep on my desk with no worries of loss. From my comparison, it seems to be a very good reproduction of the original design with very small differences detectable only in a careful side by side comparison. There is the word COPY stamped on the back of the coin. You shouldn't expect to pass this as an original. Honestly it's too shiny and clear to pass anyway. But its a fun little trinket to keep on my desk.

Back of the coin Has a 1851 Back and the front is 1849 and I should have read the ad and I though it was to Good to be real, and it's printed on the front, in Large letter is said COPY It's worth the money but it's not worth $10. it's brass and gold plated, I though I head it but I, did not, it was a test I needed a cheap item from Amazon to do it, I'm not going to return it, It's nice looking. It's my fault for not reading the ad correctly.

Not great quality, but okay as a souvenir.
