New functionality to the traditional stand
This product offers an awesome new aspect of functionality to the traditional stand. The stand is very sturdy, and assembles within a matter of minutes. The included bag is what makes this stand worth buying. It offers two pouches one for the (1) tube section which folds in, and collapses within itself. The second pouch is for the sheet holder portion. It fits comfortably within, and the zippers go the full length of the bag for easy inserting. The bag is easy to carry with a shoulder strap and a hand strap as well. The stand itself is sturdy with adjustment points for the angle of the stand, height of the stand, and the width of the tripod base. The stand is also ample enough to hold my iPad, book, and phone, as I've witnessed during my teaching sessions. It also gives the impression that it could hold weight. It held up my old music sheets binder which weighed about 5-6 pounds, and 2 inches thick.

The perfect package for gigging
When I play out, I usually have a variety of instruments, from a couple guitars, banjo, autoharp, flutes, etc. When I need a music stand, I hate also having to mess with the normal stand. This stand breaks down to a size that makes it nice and compact for transport, but the included carrying case seals the deal! It is so easy to carry around with its shoulder strap while both hands are free to carry instruments and whatever else. When set up, the stand is as stable as any I've used. With the stand in the case, there is room in there for songsheets or other flat paper products. On top of that, the price was very reasonable! What is there to find wrong with all of this? I couldn't find anything.

Just shy of perfect
This is a sturdy stand, adjusts to comfortable height for sitting or standing. Great once it is set up, portable with its own bag, and at a good price. Holds my trumpet mute holder great. It is a little on the heavy side, but that goes with being sturdy. I suppose 3/4" perforations could make it lighter without weakening it, but that's labor and adds cost. Minor complaint. The bag is strong, and the stand just barely fits. So it works fine, just takes a little bit of fiddling to get it in and zipped. Minor complaint. The main shaft collar that opens and closes the legs has a tendency to bind. Again, a little fiddling and the legs open and close ok. Minor complaint. Maybe it will loosen up over time, hope it doesn't loosen up to the point where it won't stay set.If you're looking for a good, sturdy stand that takes down and comes with a bag for transport, this is a good choice.

Portable Music Stand with a Convenient Case
I bought this stand because it came with a case. That fact that it came with a music stand was just a bonus! I used to use one of those little portable fold-up music stands because I could easily carry it at the same time as my trumpet and my music, etc., when I went to band. The tray wasn't very deep, and my music was always falling off. But, I had refused to get a "big music stand" like everyone else because it would require making 2 trips to carry all my stuff when I went to practice or a performance. Then I discovered this portable stand, and it is wonderful. The case can be carried by the handle or the shoulder strap. It is very sturdy for a portable music stand. The tray is deep enough to hold my music without falling off. This is exactly what I need. Hamilton KB90 Traveler II Portable Music Stand

Caution: Not the Best
I happened to purchase two different music stands at once, so comparing was easy. There was an obvious lack of quality and design to the Hamilton. First, the main pole did not stand straight up, giving the stand (and your music) a slight tilt. Second, there was a problem in extending the 3 legs. As I continued to put pressure on the 3 legs to open them, they wouldn't budge past a certain point, and the metal pole began to bend out of shape. I had to use my hand to push the star-shaped connection on the pole completely down and again later, to lift it back up to fold up the legs. It shouldn't be that difficult to manipulate the legs. Third, there are 2 knobs to adjust the tilt of the music stand shelf instead of one. You have to walk around behind the stand to make adjustments. Fourth, the music stand lip does not have a blunt edge. The metal is bent back to give a rounded edge. This edge is too thick for Manhasset 1100 Accessory Shelf if that is an important accessory for you. Fourth, the stand was difficult to fit into the travel bag.In contrast, I was VERY PLEASED to assemble the On-Stage SM7211 Professional Folding Orchestral Music Stand, Black. It worked smoothly and effortlessly when folding the 3 legs up or down. The stand is straight and sturdy, not top-heavy, and the music stand lip has a blunt edge for an accessory shelf. It fit better into the Hamilton bag than the Hamilton stand did. And all you have to do to adjust the tilt of the music stand shelf, is to reach under and turn one knob. Set up and fold up took me seconds with the On-Stage stand v. sitting on the floor and wrangling for minutes with the Hamilton.Wouldn't it be nice if someone sold a quality, portable music stand with shelf and carrying bag in one great package deal?
