Love our silk duvet: so glad I found them on Amazon.
It's maybe not a good idea to write a review just two nights after receiving our new duvet, but doesn't matter: I already know we love it. I saw these in Costco a few months ago, and just wasn't ready to part with $200 at that moment (and, I'm afraid the saleslady was rather pushy, and that turned me off). But I saw how well-made they were, and really liked the weight and size. I'm not a big fan of marshmallowy (and hot!) down comforters, and I know that silk breathes well and is hypo-allergenic (although thankfully we don't suffer from allergies). I read all the reviews here (thank you) and decided yes. We like fresh air in our bedroom year 'round, so it can get a bit chilly in the winter (last few nights have been 24º), but we sleep better without the heat on. Our duvet (augmented with a lovely, lightweight cotton duvet cover I found here from Cynthia Rowley) is the perfect warmth and weight, and I love that it's slightly bigger than some, so it doesn't sit awkwardly on the top of the bed. It has a nice drape over the sides (not too long, but covers the mattress area). It sits nice and flat on the bed, not all puffy like down would. That said, be sure you look carefully at measurements if you're going to get a new duvet cover for it – it would look weird if it was too big inside the cover (and those covers vary widely). Some people complained about a crinkling sound, and there is a little bit of that if you listen hard, but to me, it's just the sound of crisp, fresh cotton. Unless you're thrashing about all night, it's unlikely to bother you. I think you'd get the same result with any new cotton-covered duvet. Also, there was no bothersome scent (as reported by a few others)... and I'm pretty sensitive to that. The instructions tell you to air it out for an hour or put it in the dryer on cool for 20 minutes before using it, which I did. Any smell was only from the snug plastic packaging... which went away after airing out the duvet. I suppose if you really run cold at night, this might not be heavy enough for you, but I that's hard to imagine. If you're still cold, you can always add another lightweight layer, or get a burrowing chihuahua like we have (our little footwarmer)... A great purchase, and we hope to have it for many years!

NIce for us middle agers
Women aren't the only ones with night sweats. Guys have them, too! The down comforter that I could not live without in my younger years is now just too darn hot. Either my husband is sweating under it, heating it up and causing me night sweats or I find it just too heavy in all but the coldest night weather. The silk comforter provides a nice compromise. My husband heats it up but it never gets too hot for me. He doesn't need to get out of bed and take off his shirt. I feel it is best in the summer when sleeping under down is not even an option even with the air conditioner on cold. I also love it in spring and fall when their is a nip of chill in the air.

Surprisingly warm considering how lightweight it is
I was visiting my adult son in the winter. He lives in northern Canada. He let me use his bed. I didn't think his lightweight comforter was going to be warm enough since the room was kept in low-mid 60's. But I was. Next morning, I asked him what it was. He had splurged on it after seeing at Costco. We live in Houston, TX where it can get cold (!!) and this is perfect. I read other's comments/complaints that it is noisy. Sure hasn't been an issue for us. We use a duvet comforter to keep it clean and protected...which adds some weight. Would happily get another one.

Not warm!
I regret not returning it. It is not warm at all! Even though I set my room temprature at 69, I still woke up in the middle of the night feeling cold.

Good for summer
I bought this for my boyfriend as his "summer" comforter. It is lightweight enough for him even in mid August, although he tends to run cold, so keep this in mind. We don't share it (I have my own comforter) so I cannot attest to if it's too warm or not, I run warmer than him. He likes it a lot though, so thumbs up.

Best comforter ever
I have never enjoyed the blanket on my bed; with my smart silk comforter, I look forward to getting under the covers every night. Surprisingly with this lightweight comforter, I sleep just the right temperature under the blanket, whether it is warm or cold weather or temperature in the room. I love this comforter like no other!

Wonderful product
I saw this product several months ago at a local store, but didn't purchase it at the time. I kept thinking about the comforter and as the warmer weather is coming, I thought to make a change. After several nights of sleeping under the comforter, my husband announced to me that he really liked it. Rare praise indeed. I like the fact that I can wash it routinely to keep the dust and such under control. I have already recommended it to others, so yes, I will continue to do so if folks are looking to make a change from their current bedding.

Expensive, but worth it
I bought this last Spring, but waited until the cold weather to put it on my bed. When I received it, I was concerned that it was so "flat," but It has kept me toasty warm without much weight. I spent the extra bucks for it because I have lots of allergies and this duvet is certified as asthma & allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. I don't know whether it's made any difference in my breathing, but I like that it's natural and chemical-free. The price on Amazon was dramatically less than on the Smartsilk website.
