Samsung EF-RN950CBEGUS Galaxy Note8 Rugged Military Grade Protective Cover with Kickstand

My first case for the Galaxy Note 8 was made out of PU leather. I really liked the case, but it was thin and the PU leather was slicker than I'd hoped. Thus, it wasn't much help holding onto the goliath, super slim and expensive Galaxy Note 8, so I decided to give my 2nd choice a try (meaning this Samsung case).The rubberized plastic on the Samsung case doesn't actually offer much more grip and I was a little disappointed by that. However, it is a little thicker and the texture on the back helps some. The outset buttons also help me hold onto the phone, although I actually liked that my old case stuck out above the buttons, so you're not pushing them on accident while using the phone. The Samsung case is still less slippery and it's easier to hold, which was my main reason for switching to it.Although Samsung says to remove this case before using wireless charging, it seems to fast charge just fine on my Seneo iPhone X Wireless Charger, 10W Fast Wireless Charger Charging Pad Stand(No AC Adapter) for Galaxy S9/S9 Plus Note 8/5 S8/S8 Plus S7/S7 Edge S6 Edge Plus, 5W Standard Charge for iPhone X/8/8 Plus I can't tell any difference from my old case, which was approved for wireless charging and worked just fine.The top and bottom edges of the Samsung case stick out above the screen a little, while the middle edges do not, which should help while swiping along the edges. This design should protect the case fine, should it fall onto a flat surface, while a non-flat surface might be trouble regardless.The stand is a nice feature that I know I'll use a lot, because I've wished so many cases had one in the past. The fit superb and I think it looks great, too. I'm a guy who's always on the go and spends a lot of time outdoors, so even though I liked my PU leather case, I really needed something more durable like the Samsung. Some other durable cases are too big and bulky, but this one is a nice compromise and should fit fine in pockets where my PU leather case fit.Update: After owning this care for years now, I've been very pleased with it. However, it does have one major fault and that's why I'm writing this. When you put the case on upside down, it presses down the right buttons on the side and activates recovery mode. One of the options in recovery mode is factory reset and this is dangerous.I take my phone out of the case at night, and have put it back in upside down, multiple times. Today I did it while half asleep, and while attempting to remove the phone to put it in right, I activated factory reset and my big fear of this happening came true. While I was able to recover all of my data, I lost all my settings and customization. That makes this a poor design by Samsung, imo, because it's far too easy to do.

At first I thought I was a bit thin but it held up so far with moderate protection. Button works good. There's a kick stand that is decent for landscape viewing with good angle. Texture is good that isn't too slippery.

Excellent sturdy case that works perfectly with Samsung Qi Certified Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stand W/ AFC Wall Charger.To be able to still use a magnetic car mount (and jury-rigged sink counter mount), I used Wiss M300 MultiMaster 3-Inch Cut Capacity 10-1/2-Inch Straight Snip to cut a rectangular metal plate (Spigen Kuel A210 Metal Plates for Magnetic Car Mount) lengthwise, then stuck those now-two pieces onto the bottom two back rows of the phone's case (the very bottom and the kickstand piece). No wireless charging interference or heat. Using one of those halved rectangular metal plates just below the camera would work as well (basically, keep the middle two back "rows" clear for wireless charging). In retrospect, I should've rounded out the now-cut corners to avoid potential snagging in pockets. Palm Pre had this all figured out perfectly with magnetic wireless charge 8 years ago...Pros:+ Good protection all-around+ Sturdy Kickstand (only landscape mode)+ Back has bumpy texture for better grip+ Wireless chargingCons:- Back is overly bulky (to seamlessly fit the kickstand), and doesn't fit some folding stands (for portrait mode) like SUNWORLD Smart Phone and Tablet Stand - Foldable Vertical and Horizontal Mount. No big deal- Colors come in only black or dark blue. Note4 Samsung OEM case had beautiful color of blue morpho butterly or deep red. Too bad...
