The adhesive backing actually grips, and once it's stuck to a smooth surface, it stays stuck. The hook-and-loop connection itself is satisfyingly tight; you can feel it's not going anywhere. If you're trying to stick this to textured drywall or anything porous, you're going to have a bad time. Also, "removable" is doing a bit of work in the marketing — it comes off, but it's not the kind of thing you're going to reposition five times without the adhesive losing its enthusiasm. But for what it is — heavy duty, reliable, no-tools Velcro that can hold serious weight — this earns its reputation. The name-brand matters here. Generic versions of this stuff are a gamble. This one isn't. Buy it if you need to hang something heavy without putting holes in your wall. Pass if you need it to stick to anything other than a smooth, flat surface.

I am absolutely obsessed with VELCRO products. I am lucky enough to have OCPD snd these guys help me stay hyper-organized. I mostly use these for storing appliances back in manufacturing boxes since I do not like my kitchen space cluttered with appliances. For example, when I am done with thr blender, I will store it back in the box and use velcro to keep the flaps down and closed. Even after opening many times over the years, the adhesion is still as durable as ever. I also use these for patches for my backpack instead of ironing them on and it works wonders, also allowing me to switch patches as I please without worrying about the commitment. To no surprise, these are not washer friendly. I will wash my backpack and the velcro does lose its adhesive properties, but I just add a new one. Best part is that it did not leave sticky residue for me (but it could also be due to the material of my packpack). These are thick, so make sure scissors are very sharp to keep the velcro from sticking.

I use this to hold down a lot of stuff and it holds great and the backing sticks great too!

I bought this to attach a fabric bedliner to the trunk panels in my Tesla. I was planning to use the adhesive to attach one side of the Velcro on the panels and sew the opposite piece of Velcro to the fabric. The adhesive was much too sticky for needle/thread to pass through, and the thread kept breaking. I tried simply using the adhesive on the fabric with mixed results (100 F cabin temp). It already detached in several places. To be fair - instructions say not for fabric.

My trash can was moving on my carpet every tine I stepped on its foot pedal. I applied strips of the rough side to the bottom of the can. The Velcro hooks attach to carpet fabric and prevents movement. I tested it repeatedly and it works fine. You can also put a Gorilla Non Slip Pad under the can so the Velcro grips the pad which grips the carpet.
