🚀 Elevate Your Measurement Game!
The Digital LED Tachometer by Icstation is a high-precision RPM speed meter designed for AC 110V and 220V applications. It features a Hall proximity switch sensor for accurate speed measurement, a clear 4-bit LED display, and robust anti-interference capabilities, making it ideal for lathes, conveyor belts, and quality inspection machines.

Works with Shopsmith Mark 5, 5-in-one machine! Sensor worked on metal shaft.
I have a Shopsmith Mark 5 machine. I primarily use the drill press function these days. It has a variable speed dial labeled with letters rather than actual RPM, so I was looking to add a digital speed readout. This tachometer is reasonably priced and looked like it would do the job.The package arrived quickly and was easy to assemble, but required soldering three wires to connect the hall sensor to the three-pin connector. I wired up a 110 power cord and attached the magnet to the power take-off shaft, held the hall effect sensor close to the shaft and the RPM was immediately displayed. I also attached the magnet to the side of the chuck and the sensor still read the RPM.I will need to fashion a bracket to permanently mount the Hall sensor and the electronics. In summary, it works great.

Easy to install and works well
I saw this tachometer design in a machinist video. I liked that it uses mains input, in my US location this is 120V but the input can be 240V. The board converts this to whatever DC voltage is needed for the Hall effect sensor and display.I installed the supplied magnet in a balancing hole that was machined into the underside of my quill pulley. A piece of thin scrap wood holds the Hall effect sensor.I could have made a box out of thin plywood, but instead I designed a box and lid in a CAD program and then 3D printed the box and lid. Makes for a nice installation. It takes a few rotations for the sensor to stabilize, but then the display shows a stable reading.I would buy this again.

inconsistent readings, trying different sensor, great after sales support.
I bought this for my lathe. Installed it in the control cabinet and the sensor & magnet on the spindle pulley. I got the sensor about .060 inches from the magnet. Erratic readings, it jumps all over. adjusted sensor position multiple times, same result. erratic readings. Kind of works, but number jumps around too much to be useful. I'm buying an induction sensor to see if that works any better per another reviewer's success. (Taiss 2pcs LJ12A3-4-Z/AX Proximity Switch Inductive Proximity Sensor)So why 4 stars? Great support! Vendor provided refund for my second unit, I am now trying a third. (First one I put on my drill press) I really want this to work as otherwise there is a big hole in my cabinet.

Great tachometer for lathe
This tach works great on the lathe. Attaching the magnet to the change-gear end of the spindle lets me know what the true spindle rotation speed is. It is simple to make a small bracket to hold the sensor under the gear cover. I mounted the display on a plastic project box with a small switch for power. I chose this tach because it was AC powered and didn't need an extra power supply. Very happy with this product.

Would not recommend
It stopped working. Displays random #'s and HHHH

Fun project great learning experience
The unit was easy to install but my application was self made as I built a generator and used to meter to monitor the RPM. It was accurate with another meter about 99% of the time which was great for my work. The instruction are easy just look at the picture lol. Yes that easy. Great for DIY creators

Product didn't work when it arrived.
The product was priced right and looks like it would be a good choice for checking the rpm of a piece of machinery. It is fairly intuitive on how it should be wired but there were no directions included... no specifications for the distance the pickup should be from the magnet, or that the magnet polarity is important for the unit to work. I learn this information from You tube. My unit powered up but didn't read the RPM and just blinked "HHHH" on the read out. I sent it back for a replacement and I am waiting to see if the next unit will work. The good thing is that Amazon has a great return policy.
