Mind Blowing intentionality
This book is my fav biography for sure! Peter’s willingness to share his story inspired me to take action recently to give a hand up to someone who really needed it, to change the game for her and her kids’ future. This book is inspiring on so many levels…breaking out of poverty, breaking down racial boundaries, busting through social stereotypes, etc. Do yourself a favor and get this book to your doorstep stat!! You won’t be able to put it down and will want to tell everyone you know about it.

Inspiring!
Easy to read. Read cover to cover in one evening. Great story that will inspire. It was wonderful as a single foster/adoptive parent to read this and boost me forward. So good to know that we do make a difference in the lives of kids that come across our paths. Thank you for sharing your story and your life. I suggest all foster/adopt parents read this book.

The author, Peter Mutabazi, is a shining light in the world of helping children in need.
I became intrigued by Peter Mutabazi even though I never had kids and have nothing in common with him. I care about human beings, and especially about human beings, including children, in need of help, love, and support. This book is excellently written and tells Peter’s story of survival and achievement against seemingly impossible odds. Many children the world over tragically experience trauma in childhood, but few are able to muster the courage to take action to escape abuse and eventually create something wonderful with their lives. As a child in Uganda, Peter Mutabazi became a street kid to avoid further abuse at home, with little hope of even surviving to adulthood. He spent days negotiating with people by offering to help them in exchange for food, and seeking safe places to sleep, all the while in survival mode, doing whatever it took to survive from one day to the next.Fortunately, a kind man saw something worth saving in Peter and asked him if he’d attend school if given the opportunity. It took a lot for Peter to trust this man, but he made a good decision that ultimately changed his life. Peter was then able to go to school and get an education, which lead to his ability to help other children in need. Peter has traveled all over the world, worked for many organizations to help save children from poverty and abuse, and today he is an amazing single foster dad.Peter is a shining light of humanity as well as a kind, loving, patient, stable, and exemplary father figure for children in the foster care system. He knows that children need, above all else, love, and to know that they matter and have no need to fear as long as they’re with him. People with hearts as pure as Peter’s are rare and should be treasured. This book should be read by everyone concerned about abused or neglected children in this world and those who care about what some children have to go through in their lives just to survive. It should actually be read by everyone. It is an amazing story of a little boy in Uganda who became the beacon he is today in extending loving care to foster children in a system in the United States that so badly needs more like Peter. Buy and read this book to help restore your faith in humanity.

Excellent Story that will Leave You Hopeful & Ready To Take Action
This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long while. I actually read it cover to cover in one evening. Already familiar with Peter’s story, it was interesting to learn more of the details. He tells stories that are eye-opening and sheds light on how children can be helped globally and in the United States. You’ll walk away with hope for the future and numerous ideas on how you can make a difference for children and foster families locally and globally.

So inspiring and full of hope!!
Love this story!! Peter is proof that your past doesn’t equal your future. Choosing to be a single dad of 5, takes a special soul. What a great guy!! Must read book.

Inspirational
I couldn’t put this book down, I first went to Uganda in 2003 and got married in Kampala. So reading this brought back huge memories of the city, the bus station, the huge buses and people. But more than anything in 2003 when I saw the street kids in the traffic my heart broke for them. They made a huge impact on my life and made me the person I am today making sure I donate to charity both possessions and money, and also being kind to people no matter of their circumstances or background. Peters story was both sad and inspirational, his resilience and drive to keep pushing himself and also help and make a difference to others is amazing. The book really binds an emotional journey with the reader and also evokes thoughts and feelings you can relate too as a human. Highly recommend as a read

Astonishing story of an astonishing man
I've followed Peter Mutabazi for a while with great admiration for his commitment to the children he cares for. The book is a great read, filling in his back story. He describes the most atrocious conditions of his early life, conditions that many of us probably cannot begin to imagine. I just wanted to hear more, because the journey from street kid to highly educated man is recounted in a very matter of fact way, and his further reflections on this would have been fascinating.

Heartbreaking
I read it the evening I got the book. I am not a big reader, but I couldn't let it go. Made me cry and broke my heart, but I recommend it to anyone. I thought my childhood was hard, but it was nothing compared to Peter's. Well written and easy to read in a few hours.

Wonderfully uplifting
Peter’s story is beautifully written. As a solo foster mum in the making I found reading about his journey almost like “training”. He gives insights and tips that would help anyone striving for a therapeutic parenting approach. One phrase that really resonated was “hurt people need to be heard”. Thank you for sharing so openly Peter!
