I had absolutely no idea...
... how much I needed this years ago. I had put off doing this for a long time because the idea of putting salt water up your nose is completely off-putting. To most of us on this side of the world, this is considered gross, probably unsanitary, and stupid.Well, we're all wrong. It isn't gross (to me), it is NOT unsanitary - it's what it's preventing, and it's one of the most brilliant ideas in health care. And to think that it originated thousands of years ago by people we tend to see as evolutionarily inferior!I gave in and bought this, finally, because I'm sick and my nose was so stuffed with snot that I had to breathe through my mouth all the time. I was snotty, sneezing, and generally feeling crappy. I desperately needed something to help and medicines really weren't doing anything, as usual.I bought this Neti Pot and the little salt jar (I couldn't be bothered to go to the store to find non-iodized salt just then. Too bloody cold!). I would definitely recommend both of these items if it is your very first time using a neti pot just because it's easier and let's you get used to how to do it. You can go find your non-iodized salt later when you're sure you want to keep doing this.First, just because I'm sick, I blew my nose as forcefully as I could so that the water would have a way to go through. ThenI put one little scoop of salt (the little jar of salt by this same company has a little scoop included) in the jar, put in warm water, stirred for a few seconds, and then put it up to my nose. At first it seemed like there was going to be an issue because water wasn't flowing out of my other nostril. I kept experimenting with angles of the pot and my head and pretty soon it was going through. It wasn't uncomfortable and it didn't burn, but it was just... weird. The first time it did go into my mouth but I didn't really care because I just wanted the mucous out of my head. Afterward I leaned forward and blew my nose forcefully, again, to eject any excess water/mucous. I repeated with the other nostril and managed to get the angles right and it didn't go into my throat. Again, blew my nose.I repeated the process again in each nostril and by the end of it I could, in fact, breathe through my nose! I had spit out some green gunk and most had followed out of the other nostril so I washed out the sink, rinsed the neti pot, and gently dried it.I imagine that I'll continue to use this twice in the evenings and twice after waking up for a few days until I am well, again. Then perhaps once a day - we'll see. Definitely a great buy and I wish that I had been using this when I was little!

Rarely has a product so fully met and, indeed, exceeded my expectations.
This was one of those things that had been on my radar for a while, but I just never got around to buying and using. Well I finally did. It sat around, barely touched, for some time. I finally went to CVS and bought some saline packets. Then later, a jug of distilled water from Walmart. And still it all sat, unused.Well today I finally used it. I didn't bother with the hassle heating up the distilled water, using it at room temperature instead. I dispensed with exact measurements, simply filling up the neti pot instead. I stirred in the saline powder with my finger, I remember just before tilting my head, as I hesitated, telling myself, "this is nowhere near the hardest thing you've ever done. Just do it already." And so I did. While the water felt interesting flowing through my sinuses, like a cool tendril snaking through my nose, it wasn't unpleasant (indeed, it was somewhat refreshing). I used a single saline packet, as recommended for first time use, as per the CVS directions. I drained the pot, blew out a satisfying glob of gunk and water from my nostrils, and, after wiping my nose clean, took a deep, clean breath of air through my nose.Others had a more difficult first time it seems. For me, it was surprisingly pleasant. The entire experience, not just the aftermath, was enjoyable, so much so that the first thing I did was sit down to type this review after using it. I fully intend to keep using this regularly after my experience today. Rarely has a product so fully met and, indeed, exceeded my expectations. And yes, as for the product itself, strictly speaking, it was everything it needed to be. It comes with directions, and the pot is well constructed. In this case, the best thing that can be said about it is it did not stick out in any way. It had no quirks or surprises. Rather, it facilitated my first time use by staying out of the way and doing its job effectively.Keep in mind that this is simply one of three items you will need, albeit the main one. You will also need saline solution and proper water. The included directions will help you with these. I used nothing but the enclosed directions and tips for my first time; external research was not necessary.

i Prefer This Style And Construction - Nice Product - Just Use It Safely
Years ago I used to get very nasty sinus infections several times a year. I kept reading about Neit Pots so I thought I would try one. Wow, what a difference, instead of being on antibiotics several times a year, I haven't been on one since for a sinus infection. This has been for 15 or more years! Now it is a part of my daily hygene just like brushing my teeth. You know the feeling you have if you leave the house without brushing? That's the same way I am with this. It gets packed on trips and I keep one in our travel trailer. One note, make sure the water you use is clean and has been heated. Especially in the southern states where the amoeba called Naegleria fowleri can cause brain infections. It is found in dirty water and some tap water in the south. Very rare and apparently not found in the north (it likes warm water). Best to use distilled water (warm it in the microwave) or boiled tap water. Of course you can get this bateria swimming etc. Also, like anything else, keep the neti pot clean. All this sounds like a great hassle, but these are minor items that don't take much time. The relief you get will likely be well worth the effort. Although I have used plastic verisons in the past, I like the Ceramic verision the best. I feel like it is easier to keep clean etc. Just don't drop it in the sink! I have lost a couple over the years that way. It is easy to hook your finger over the handle so this won't happen. I make my own saline mix; 1 part baking soda and one part non-iodine table salt. You can play with the mix if need be, you shouldn't feel any discomfort. As a matter of fact, I think it feels good.
