Washing instructions for gis usually specify cold water and air dry. But like most people I know, I buy my gis large and shrink them to fit (just like people used to do with Levi's), because drip drying my gi in a hotel room during an event is not going to happen. Sooner or later it will end up in a dryer. Here are the measurements for a new size 4 that was washed in warm water and tumble dried, twice. It shrank one whole size on the first wash, and did not shrink any further after that. Measurements were made with gi laid flat on floor and jacket closed. The first number was before washing, the second after. Jacket: Cuff to cuff along top edge of sleeves: 59"/52.5" - note that the sleeves shrank a lot, which is OK for me.
