Just right for making those old slides accessible. The process is easy enough and speedy once you get a rhythm going. Annoying that it can't handle portrait orientation but I just rotated in photo editing. I had 1500 1960's slides to preserve and it took me 4 sessions to do them all, onto a 32gb SD card. Then put the card in a card reader, connected to my phone and uploaded to Google photos, in batches of 100, at 5 minutes per batch. Then a quick bit of rotating/cropping/filter editing and I shared the album with my family. They were delighted with the quality and memories. Quality wise, they were fine for viewing on phones/monitors but to be honest, we were more interested in the memory than in the sharpness. Overall, an excellent purchase and would definitely recommend for use as a way of preserving what might be lost - I doubt it would meet the needs of a serious photographer, but I don't think that's it's market.

Good scanner, easy to use , just put in an SD card and scan one frame at a time, each frame only takes a few seconds. iI have now scanned and digitised, in JPG format, hundreds of 40 year old black & white and colour negatives. Afterwards I just transferred them from the SD card to my PC. Amazing results, good enough to print a good photo up to A4. As they are digitised into JPG format you can edit them afterwards using a photo editing software. I can recommend it.

I like the ease with which you can transfer slides or negatives onto one's computer. I did initially find it difficult to open up the film carrier, in order to fit the 35mm film holder, the instructions did not really show you how to do it (you use your fingernail to lever up the film carrier, by the arrow, which suggested to me you had to move it out, but no, pivot it out, once I'd mastered that all was well). Pictures are really quite good, but not as good as the original if you try to blow up your enlargement too much; I was pleased that it automatically converted negatives to positives simply by selecting black and white or colour negatives. To sum up, I'm glad I bought it.

Worth purchasing. Really read around before selecting this Kodak slide scanner over other makes or the alternative of sending off slides to a professional service. The largest Kodak Slide & Scan screen allowed my father (late 80s) to be actively involved in the scanning of over 1000 of his slides dating back over 50yrs. We had a wonderful time together looking through them all - I wouldn’t have swapped that for anything. The adjustments you can make to the scans is basic, but enough to enable further tweaking later on any phone or laptop. The big enemy is dust - make sure you are diligent to watch out for dust & filaments, it will save you a lot of post-scanning touch ups. We used a makeup brush to remove anything obvious on the slides themselves before feeding them into the machine for scanning & fortunately the Kodak Slide & Scan comes with a nifty slim brushing device to ensure it’s scanning surface is kept clean.

I bought the scanner to digitise my old colour transparency slides. I have a few thousand to do and so far have completed about 400. The scanner is very easy to use and quick. Slides are inserted one at a time and buttons can be used to alter the brightness or colour or simply just scan. No software is required as the scans are stored on an SD card (not supplied). It is powered from a usb port on your computer and the scans can be transferred to computer at any time by choosing the upload option on the simple menu. The only very slight niggle is that it is necessary to slide out the mounting rack in order to tip out the last slide, but that only takes a second or two. Overall I am very pleased with it and can recomend it, especially if you are not very computer savy.

Neat and compact and easy to set up and operate. It accepts all standard sizes of negatives and slides. I have also scanned the non standard Kodak ADVANTIX APS film but pictures need subsequent cropping. The 6x4 inch display screen display is excellent, it can be tilted for ease of use. The scan only takes a few seconds and is stored on a 32Gb memory stick which can then be used on a computer. Data can also be uploaded direct to a computer using a USB 'C' connecting lead. Quite pleased with my purchase.

I used this a few times and eventually got used to the quirkyness. It is a fiddle trying to open the slider to put in the appropiate negative holder..The negative then need to be fed into the scanner but dont come out the other side if there are only a few photos on each strip but you can with a steady hand push it out with another strip. The negatives need to be position very carefully because they are not firmly held by holder.The holder appears to be a guide only.I found that the scanner appeared to switch off very quickly when you could only veiw picture and tried to report the problemto Kodak and to give credit they responded but they wanted a video to explain the probelm. At this point I tried again and managed to scan about 7 prints/photos but then I noticed onwhat appeared to be a scratch on the scan and on further scrutiny I noticed it was barely visible but there on a picture with more detail.The scratch was plainly visible on a scan with a plain wall in the background..I noticed I had earlier taken the scan of the picture but had put it in back to front!The "scratch was not there on that one. I decided to return the scanner for refund but also bought another replacement of the same scanner.When packing it up for my refund it occurred to me that the mark on the pictures could have been a hair that may have passed through on the negatives.I will post a further reveiw when I have used the replacement.The pictures were accepable but like with every new "toy" I need more hands on experience but I will give 4 stars today

Easy to use as it actually has very limited functionality. The UI is very basic, but I suppose that can be seen as plus as my 80 year old mum got to grips with it very quickly. Well built with a clear screen, but probably only worth £80, not £180 rrp. It does the job, but I wouldn’t buy again, or recommend. This will now do the rounds with the family so that we can all digitise negatives and slides.

Un scanner simple, efficace et rapide, largement suffisant pour redonner vie aux souvenirs de vacances. Certes ce n'est pas un équipement professionnel mais la définition est suffisante pour des diapos d'amateur pas toujours parfaites et les fichiers générés sont de taille raisonnable (3 à 4 Mo). Le paramétrage à 22 Mp n'apporte rien de plus (interpolation). L'image est légèrement recadrée latéralement mais ce n'est pas gênant car les bords de diapo sont souvent pas très nets et on peut choisir le coté qui est supprimé en déplaçant légèrement la diapo sur le support. La mise en place des diapos est plutôt aisée (chaque nouvelle diapo pousse l'ancienne) et le scan est quasiment instantané (1 à 2 secondes). Possibilité de réglage manuel de la luminosité et des couleurs (RGB) pour corriger les diapos mal exposées mais le réglage automatique est généralement correct. Pas de réglage de la mise au point. L'écran de 7" est suffisant pour ajuster le cadrage, apprécier le résultat et effectuer les éventuels réglages. Il est possible de raccorder un écran plus grand en HDMI mais ce n'est pas indispensable. Le transfert des fichiers se fait par le câble USB fourni mais il est indispensable d'insérer une carte SD (max 32 Go) dans le scanner. En conclusion : cet appareil permet de scanner rapidement une grande quantité de diapos pour un prix raisonnable et ensuite de sélectionner les meilleures pour les faire scanner par un professionnel.

Perfect, it does what it claims well and fast. I have an Epson Perfection V 600, maybe close to the gold standard for negative and slide scanners, but it's slow, very slow. First try I used the Slide N Scan on a mix of 1,260 mostly 35 mm black and white and color negatives, all over 50 years old. I captured images for 394 of them, 1.57 GB. It took 2-1/2 hours. Some, not all, of the color images had a greenish hue I could not see on the Slide N Scan, it has some ability to color correct, but those color imbalances can be automatically corrected with photo editing software more easily anyway. The B&Ws were all good. The image quality is good enough for casual use. Of the 394 images worth capturing, I set aside 46 that had enough importance to run through the Epson scanner, the others were good enough for "sharing" without additional editing. I suppose we are to the point where AI can fix anything in an image. The Slide N Scan is not intuitive, however it makes sense once you wade through the instructions or a YouTube video and it isn't necessary to resort back to the manual. The ONLY downside is if your negatives have a curl, an arch to them, the scans will be marginally "soft focused." Most of my negatives were stored in holders designed for them, so they're flat, a few were loose in drawers, a few had curls that were bad enough there were problems feeding them through the Slide N Scan. There are procedures for flattening negatives, but none of the curled ones justified the effort. Great buy.

Exactly what I needed. I am converting over 2000 slides and this little gem works flawlessly. I do not use the device to do editing as it is much easier to do on the computer. I can do a tray of 100 slides in less than 45 minutes. The quality of the images is very good to the point where zooming in on them on the computer does not pixelate (I am using 22mp setting). I highly recommend this product for anyone that wants to digitize their slide collection or their film strips. It connects to a large screen TV using HDMI and works great as a slide show source as well. The only thing missing from the box is the actual usb power supply. Fortunately it uses the same one as any cell phone so that is not an issue.
