This cough syrup is the best you can get without a prescription. It stops a cough instantly. I highly recommend it. Sometimes when I am wanting to sleep at night, being prone causes gird, which brings about coughing. A teaspoon of this and it instantly stops.

Robitussin is what my Mom would give me as a kid. Now that I'm well-grown with a kid of my own, it's my go-to, not only for my son, but for me as well (children's variety for him, though). I seem to suffer from mild allergies, so this is what I take! It's relatively pleasant tasting, and it stops my cough and runny nose for 4 hours. No problems over here!
