Q: Are these heavy and clunky/difficult to walk in?

They are a bit heavy but not at all hard to walk in. As long as you have your ankle straps tightened you'll be all set. This is coming from someone who can't walk in heels and pretty much only wears these shoes now!

Q: What is the best way to keep them looking fresh and clean? Any recommendations on a leather cleaner?

You can spray them with leather protectant.

Q: I wear a size 8.5. Should I get the 8 or 9?

I wear an 8.5 and originally ordered a 9, thinking I would have plenty of room. As it turned out, I had to return them for sz. 10 which PERFECTLY! I love them so much that I ordered them in wine as well. I do have bunions on the insides of both of my feet. But the main problem was the 9 was just a smidge too short - my toes ran into the end of the shoe. By the way, the actual shoes have marked on them EU sizing - their "size 9" is marked as a 40 which sometimes (e.g. Free People shoes) is a 9. Good luck!
