I have to say, i was impressed and dissatisfied at first. I was stupid enough to think the set come with a big UV led light. However it works brilliantly. I would recommend to a beginner

The ideal starter kit
Perfect starter kit with a good UV lamp and decent amount of resin. The little silicone jugs are a super little bonus - I doubt I'll need to use them for UV resin, but I'm already using them a lot for measuring and mixing small amounts of non-UV resin to make sure the quantities are close to equal. I don't make jewellery, but do a lot of what I call resin engineering where I make prototypes of various kinds, and a mostly use non-UV resin for that, sometimes with embedded reinforcement, but I often need to build moulds out of tape, thin strips or sheets of resin (made on a silicone mat) and superglue before filling them up with normal resin. I'm now using this UV resin instead of the tape and superglue, and it makes the work far neater, faster, orders of magnitude less prone to leaks, while there's no tape getting left behind my mistake being covered by subsequent layers. This resin only needs ten to twenty seconds of UV light to stop it running around, so it's rally practical for this work, and it also sets just as fast using a small UV torch that came with a different product. This has transformed the way I work, and just in the last few days it's saved me many hours of fighting leaks in moulds; indeed, it sets fast enough that a slow leak can be wiped clean and then a drop or UV resin put on it (even from below) and given a quick blast of UV light, and that's it sealed. Be aware if you're buying this kit that you may get a different lamp from the one you're expecting - if you read the small print when clicking through the images at the top you'll see the two different lamps, and you'll get one of those selected randomly, so it's intended as a surprise. I happened to get the one that suits my work better, but the other one would still have been fine. I'd also recommend wearing sunglasses with full UV protection when working with a UV light - I didn't do so to begin with, but felt an odd pain in one eye several times when running the lamp, and I never looked at any of the LEDs while they were lit, so it was just reflected UV light. I work all night and don't see a lot of daylight, so I may be more sensitive to this than normal people, and bright sky hurts my eyes too, but this isn't something you should take any chances with - I'm being extra cautious because my father has developed macular degeneration.

Good value kit
Overall, this is a good value kit as you get a lot in the pack. I normally use epoxy resin but at this time of year (January) it's difficult to work with as the house is cold, which makes the resin sluggish to pour and slow to cure. So, I thought I'd give UV resin a try and see if that improves things for some of my smaller makes. I chose this set because it includes a light, which I didn't already have. This is very useful, though very small - no use for larger moulds. While the resin is sticky if you get it on your hands, it's nowhere near as sticky as epoxy resin - a quick wash of my hands with soap afterwards did the trick. Something I hadn't considered until I read the instructions in the box is you are discouraged from mixing alcohol inks and mica powders directly into the resin, as this makes it harder for the light to pass through and cure the resin. What I had to do was pour and cure a very thin layer of resin, then brush it with mica powder and then pour and cure a second layer. I was thus able to achieve a coloured/glittery effect, though in my opinion not as nice as I would have achieved with epoxy with the colour mixed in. You can pour and cure thicker moulds (like the 'crystal ball' in my photos) - to achieve this, I filled the mould roughly halfway with the resin, cured it, tipped in a couple of scoops of glitter, then topped it up with resin and cured it again. For a mould this thick it took a lot of longer sessions under the lights before the resin fully cured. While UV resin is a lot faster to cure than epoxy, I am so far finding that its uses are more limited than they are with epoxy, unless you invest in some pre-coloured UV resin (and so far I've only found very few of these sold on Amazon). UV is certainly not going to replace epoxy for the majority of my projects, but for small things that would take a long time to cure with epoxy I will probably carry on with the UV resin. Worth noting as well that measured by the gram, if you use a decent brand such as Let's Resin, UV is about twice the price of epoxy so that's another reason not to fully switch! There is a smell to this resin which is not very pleasant, but it is resin after all so a smell is to be expected - it's no worse than epoxy for smell.

Great Resin Kit For Beginners!
This is my first time using resin and wasn’t even sure if resin would work on my charms project. The kit arrived on time and was easy to assemble. The UV light was surprisingly small but it’s not like I needed anything larger so I’m considering it a positive for ease of storage. The resin is ready to use and requires no mixing. I wasn’t sure how to use the “tools” so I opted for a tiny paintbrush and just dipped it directly into the bottle. I cycled the charms 3 times because I resin painted the charms in stages. It still felt a little tacky but after sitting and airing out about 5 minutes, the tackiness was gone. A couple of charms were sacrificed trying to get the method down so the resin wouldn’t pool; that’s why I ended up using the UV light in 3 cycles per charm. The included mat was a HUGE bonus! It provided enough coverage for my workspace. The smell is not pleasant at first but that’s to be expected. Personally, I think this is a great kit for a beginner.
