Architecture and Utopia: Design and Capitalist Development

This is a very dense book. Or perhaps I'm the one that is dense? Definitely not for beginners in architectural criticism.

This book is almost as much about the language used to criticize architecture than architecture itself. It is very dense and hard to read.

Tafuri was marxist thinker, clear minded though and one of the most important theoreticians in XX century architecture. He still be one of the central figures in modern structure of European art theory and Italian intellectual life.

This is a classic text, theres not much more to say, but avoid buying here, or buying new.This is a really badly printed book. It's one of the ugliest books I've ever purchased and if I saw it int he store like this I would never buy it. I'm not sure if its a knock-off or if the newer editions are just of a poorer quality. The paper is terrible, the text reproduction is so terrible I can barely read it without getting a headache. The cover appears like its been laminated by a copy shop. It is not worth the ~ 30 dollars
