It is bigger then the picture which is not a problem because I wanted something big enough to catch her eyes. The thing I do not like about it is that there is no motion. It takes batteries so you will need a screw driver to open it and that is easy to do. The colors are bright but the music box itself is very cheaply made. It is very very loud and there is no way to lower it. I suppose it would be better for a older infant but again it is just so loud.
