Worked on a Gen 4 ipod Touch
Used this to replace the battery on a Gen4 8GB Ipod Touch. The old battery would not hold a charge for more than 30 minutes.New replacement battery is working great. Charge is holding for days and many hours of music playback. So far so good.Note: The process to replace the battery is complicated and you can do damage to the iPod.In my case I broke the power and volume connector cable, so I had to change the settings so I could use the screen to turn the iPod off. I also got the dreaded white screen, this was fixed with doing a factory reset via iTunes. Non off this has anything to do with the new battery, just a warning that it is easy to cause damage during the procedure.I am pleased with the performance of the new battery.-andy

Ive used the kit multiple times!
The battery is a great buy and had no flaws when I installed it. I've reused the tools it came with to help out friends replace their battery's. Just be warned that the kit does not include instructions. I would recommend watching a youtube video for help. Also, the installation requires 3 small soldering points. Please make sure you are prepared to solder smaller points on an expensive device.

I won't say it's an easy job, because it's not
I won't say it's an easy job, because it's not, but if you've done this type work before, replacing an IPOD battery is doable. The soldering is the hardest part. You have to be careful or you'll get a solder bridge across the two conductors and short out the battery. If you've done small electronics soldering and are careful this job is possible. The battery worked fine. The IPOD belongs to my kid who did recently say (5 months after replacing it) that it seems like the battery isn't holding a charge as well as it did 5 months ago. We'll see how well it holds up as time passes. It's still way better than the old battery for sure.*** UPDATE ***Well, it's been 13 months since I replaced this battery. Shortly after the above review was written, the battery life fell off to the point where it was unusable. Starting about a month ago the battery started to swell and lifted the screen off the IPOD. I've never seen a battery do what this one has - it has increased in thickness probably 5 times it's original dimensions. At this point I can safely say that replacing the battery was a complete waste of time and money. All we got out of it was about 5 or 6 months of extra life.

Not for Novice people
I chose the rating because it ultimately ended up in 3 days of denial and frustration. I have had very little soldering skills prior to ordering this. I should have just spent the $79 to have apple do it. Besides the fact, I had to buy a $30 soldering gun for this job anyway, so that put me at half the price of sending it in. The connectors on this battery are too tiny and burn to a crisp after multiple attempts. This was also disappointing because even with the extreme caution, I still managed to break a speaker cable, disable the back camera completely, and it didn't work when hooked up anyway. The battery never charged. My iPod stayed at a constant 1% while plugged into the wall. Forget plugging it into the PC, the voltage is too low when there's practically no real battery power in it. It was a live and learn experience and I figured any other bad review was just someone else's bad luck. Could've sold my iPod before tearing it apart and received more money than I can now, with which I would have just got myself a tablet.

Works Great!
My daughter's Gen 4 Touch was purchased in 2010. Recently the glass screen was broken and battery became low. I replaced the glass screen and battery during the holidays (Dec 2012). Initially the battery did not work well. The Touch showed a message of "temperature too high" and "let the IPod to cool down" or some thing to that effect. After some on-line research, I realized that I might have a bad solder connection to the replaced battery. I purchased a natural rosin from an on-line music store and used the rosin as the old-fashion soldering flux. Since the solder joints were fixed, the touch has been fabulous and maintained it charge all the time - "as good as new."P.S. the tool set coming with the battery is not very useful, except for the Philip head screw driver. An Xacto knife is required.

Battery kit OK, but make sure to spare tools, and professional help available.
Although everything was included in the kit that the original add said would be there, the tools to seperate the touch screen from the rest of the ipod crumbled or did not keep its edge. I had to get help and the use of other tools from someone I know who had a similar kit. Also, the image to the left of this box for comments as more items than the one I ordered had. Also, the add didn't mention needing to solder anything. All in All, I'm glad I ordered the kit. The price was much less than I'd have had to pay for a professional to do the work. But, . . . if I didn't have friends with skills, I would have had a much worse experience.

Battery For Apple iPod Touch 4th Generation
It was a challenge to replace the battery in my Ipod touch 4th generation. I following the instructional movie I found on You Tube.Don't try to rush the process it takes about 30-minutes to open the case using a hair dryer. You should be very proficient at desoldering and soldering. Take your time and you will be very happy when you turn it on and see the APPLE LOGO. I laid double sided tape on a piece of card board to keep the tiny screws from the logic board in the right order. I had no trouble finding the right screw when I reassembles the Ipod. The included tools were very good.
