Garbage level educational text
This hardly college level psychology text. Garbage level educational text. Mr. Lahey, you should probably reconsider any further editions of this text and destroy the ones in existence. There are so many typos throughout the text (was no one paying attention?) It makes it really hard to take a textbook seriously with the amount of typos. Chapter 14 on Abnormal Behavior, which is supposed to be one of the "updated" sections of the texts, is absolute rubbish. I was especially disturbed on the description of bipolar disorder, which implies that an individual diagnosed as bipolar has cycles of mania and depression but absolutely no mention of the "normal" in between the cycles. There's too many generalizations & misinformation in that chapter alone, how can you really trust anything else throughout the text? The myths and facts table on rape are not properly aligned. And I, personally, find the sentence "Contrary to expectations, the person who forced the women to do something sexually usually was not a stranger." offensive. But, hey, it's easy to read. And if you truly do not care about your education, this text will not waste your time because you probably aren't paying attention anyway. One might consider using the text for those with below normal intelligence.

it did a terrific job of teaching the history of the science as ...
Bought this for a Psychology class in College. It covers a lot of the basics in the field of Psychology. It only scratches the surface however, but for a Psych 101 class, it did a terrific job of teaching the history of the science as well as the progress it has made in our lives.

Excellent Organization
Lahey lays out this book very well for first time psychology readers. All important concepts are bolded in the text and then summarized in the margins. All of the examples given are accessible and easy to understand. The clinical examples are great because they give wonderful context about how the ideas play out in real life. The review exercises are extremely helpful as well. Admittedly, I haven't read any other intro to psychology books, but I don't feel the need to either!

A good text book
I bought this for my Psych class. It is a decent book for a student in class, or for any individual interested in learning about psychology. The wording is easy to follow, formal but not too formal.

Readable
The edges are a little worn out and the cover is a little bent up but other than that it is readable and it isn't falling apart.

Psychology 101
This book is honestly great. All the information this book carries is very helpful for kids taking psychology class. Even since my class ended I tend to look back at it because there's so much that wasn't covered and its actually interesting. I would highly recommend this book.
