Awesome shaving soap, but it's not cheap.
This probably the best shaving soap I've ever used. For context, I've used Proraso (Red, White, Black and Green), TOBS (Sandalwood, and Platinum), Dreadnought, and a few others. The Barrister and Mann is the all around best, it's slick, it's easy to work into a lather, and it has a great scent. The only hiccup is the price, it's quite expensive for shaving soap, it's about twice the price of TOBS, and three times the price of Proraso for the same amount of product.. Is it better than the Proraso or TOBS? Yes it is. Is it 2 or 3 times better? Nah, I don't think it is. Definitely worth trying though, you won't be disappointed.

The best lathering shave soap I have tried
Iโve tried a lot of different brands of shave soap, including MacDuffs, House of Mammoth, Ariana & Evans, Aylesworth, Stirling, Phoenix, and many others. Barrister and Mann earns its reputation one of the best shave soaps and I canโt say any Iโve tried is better. This has been #1-A in my top tier. It ladders up well and is slick, allowing for an excellent shave. Itโs a bit pricey, so Iโd say Stirling may be a better bang for your buck as the performance of Stirlingโs shave soaps is a close second of the soaps Iโve used, but Stirling is not available on Amazon at this time. Cella is a good one for the money as well, but Cella doesnโt smell as good, doesnโt come in the wide variety of scents, and does not offer a matching aftershave. I donโt know how many criteria most people have for shave soaps: B&M offers many fragrances and is the best performing lather I have tried. I bought Leviathan and love the smell, as does my wife. Iโm not great at describing fragrances so I will leave that to other reviewers, but it is a complex and unique smell that I really enjoy.

First Time Shaving Soap User
Iโve been shaving for 40 years, all of them with the โbestโ cartridge razors and the โbestโ shaving creams. I try shave to BBS shave to and that means endless strokes that lead to burns and small cuts. Having had enough, I made the switch to the โbestโ DE Safety Razors a few months ago. The result was a better shave in terms of razor burn, but taking twice the amount of time to shave, and still having to do multiple passes. And, still getting minor cuts. Frustrated, and about to give up on DE razors, I decided to try the โbestโ shaving soaps. Iโve never used a soap shaving product before and only creams. Well, bingo, everything has now changed! I used the Laviathan soap last night for the first time and it was amazing. - easy to lather up directly in the puck it comes in. - smooth lather that saturates and stays on your face. - allows your razor to glide over your face without dragging. - does not dry up and flake off, which is a huge issue with shaving creams! - post shave alum block all over my face was the proofโfirst shave without feeling like gasoline was being lit up! Bottom Line: I did 2 passes, no burns, no cuts, and a BBS shave-best shave of my life! Will never use a cream product ever againโฆ

Works well - Smells nice
The bad first: 1)Not a standard size puck. If you have a bowl that you normally use it won't fit unless you cut it down. 2) The smell (although really nice) is a bit stronger than I'd like straight out of the package. I'm hoping the smell will fade a bit What I had been doing before was doing the first pass with the no longer available Mitchells because it works well then running the brush through some tabac cuz it smells nice This stuff works well AND smells nice. Someone described the smell as being like hotel soap. I'd say it's more like what hotel soap tries to smell like. Sort of like what Chipotle is to real Mexican food (this stuff being the real Mexican food in this analogy)

Thick and Slick
I have been shaving for years with a double edge razor and tried quite a few different shaving soaps. One of my more favorite products has been Tabac for its ease of lather, great smell and soft feel of my face afterwards. This is my first run with a Barrister & Mann product and I was not disappointed. This soap whips up a thick lather with ease, and smells just like Earl Grey tea. The after effects are not as quite as soft as Tabac, but more of a smooth clean face feel. The thickness of the lather, with how easy it is to get there, makes this soap a 5 star in my opinion. Also noted, is that I have been using a synthetic shaving brush exclusively now for years. It creates a lather just as well as a high end boars hair, without all the extra needed attention.

Slick, protective, excellent glide
slick, protecting, great glide! and an excellent scent as well. I scrape then press into a bowl, bloom, then pour the bloomed water into a cup, then swirl adding back the bloomed water a little at a time. This stuff rocks big time!

Thicker lather, coats well with less effort using the brush
Iโve now tried about three different shaving soaps using my shaving brush in a bowl. I have to say I get a thicker lather and it doesnโt take as much brushwork as the other soaps Iโve tried. I think this is a very good shaving soap.

Good, thick lather, but expensive.
The fragrance is really strong at first but seems to lessen after the soap has a little time to air out. The lather is nice and rich and "yogurt-like," not just a lot of bubbles that dry out fast. It's expensive.

E' un B&M, che devo aggiungere
Ottimo soap tallowato, montaggio protezione e post eccellenti. La profumazione deve piacere. Straconsigliato

Old spice shaving
Not that accurate to Old Spice but perfect combination with it as aftershave - Smooth shaving and foaming.

fantastico

Barrister and Mann: SEVILLE shaving soap
Excellent soap for a proper traditional shave. Iโve moved from foams to oils and now to brush and soap, and this one stands out. Paired with a badger brush, it produces a dense, stable lather that stays wet throughout the shave. The scent is refined and lingers pleasantly without being overpowering. Compared to Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood, this is a clear step up in both lather quality and fragrance. Ideal for anyone who treats shaving as a ritual rather than a chore.
