Hogue HandAll Beavertail Rubber Grip Sleeve for S&W M&P Shield, Ruger LC9

Hogue grips are the most comfortable grips you can get. Tight fit that won't slip or turn. Great texture & palm swell in your hand. Looks slick too. Price is on point. Does not go on easy, but thats how it stays in place no matter what you do. Hint on install, you can use a little windex sprayed on the pistol grip to help it slide on if needed. I also use a butter knife (dull one) or thin spoon/fork handle stuck between the grip sleeve & pistol grip. That can help you pry/manipulate it into place. Just be careful you dont pry too hard or you might rip the grip sleeve.

The Bodyguard 2.0 is already a perfect piece. It shoots well and feels good in the hand. This grip sleeve is an add-on that makes the Bodyguard even more perfect. If you want a bit more 'full-size grip' feel from the Bodyguard, you need this grip. It adds just enough to make it a better shooting experience without adding too much girth for printing. And, with the finger grooves, the Bodyguard is less likely to slide in your hand. This makes sure you always keep the proper grip, nice and high for best performance. This grip won't work for pocket carry as the rubber grip will cling to your pocket on extraction - this is best suited for holster carry. That's just my opinion - don't let me tell you what to do. Warm this up in hot water, dry it off, then put it on your UNLOADED Bodyguard. It installs easier that way.

I got one for my 9mm and 45 Shields. It is a bit too short for the 45, but that's because I should have gotten the model made for the 45 Shield, which I've now ordered (model 18300). I prioritize seating the beavertail high and have the Hogue literally as high as it will go - right up to where any further and it would inhibit use of the mag release. It might be nice to have it intentionally a bit long to allow trimming away excess for personalized fitting. It still works great even on the 45, but I will replace it with the 18300 when its received. Any lack of full length coverage is an aesthetic thing that doesn't negatively affect its function at all. Anyone with large hands or long fingers - moderate to large sized male hands and fingers - will find this grip to be a major improvement to the otherwise too narrow, too short tigger reach, and painful-to-shoot 2.0 M&P Shield (typical problems for concealable subcompacts). It enhanced the natural point-and-shoot of the gun by dramatically improving what for me was a problem of the trigger reach being too short for what I personally considered confident carry of the M&P Shield. Since I usually carry a larger handgun (M&Ps of course), I was worried that the short trigger reach of the Shield with my hand and finger size would create muscle-memory issues if I ever needed to quickly draw and shoot the firearm, and my accuracy would suffer. The added beavertail material, general minor added thickness of the entire Hogue grip, and slight flaring along the grip sides definitely improved the comfort and shoot-ability of the gun. It eliminated the pain that I previously suffered if I shot it a lot at the range. (FYI: Grip has no negative impact on concealment.) The original small, hard, abrasive, thin normal grip was very uncomfortable in my moderately large hands, and the short trigger reach was disturbing. No longer a problem, or it is at least far less of a problem. I'm extremely pleased with these grips. It took under 10 minutes to install both. I used and strongly advise obtaining an "Equalizer" auto glass tool which you can get here on Amazon. It is a hard plastic little wonder-tool for which you will find many uses. This was one of them. Being plastic, there is no risk of damaging the gun's grip. Something similar will probably work just as well. A VERY light bit of olive oil applied to the inside of the grip, along with some careful prying, sliding, adjusting with the Equalizer, a little patience, and - easy-peezy - precisely applying the grip was simple.

Fantastic fit for the bodyguard 2.0 and it has made my grip far more stable. I ran it under steaming hit sink water and slipped it on. No plastic sleeves, no windex, nothing fancy. Very hot water is all it took.

I have had a Pachmeyr Grip Glove on my M&P Shield for several years but I was never happy with it. It slipped on easily enough, and improved the fit for my hand, but it slipped and twisted no matter how many times I cleaned with alcohol. I even tried hairspray but, especially when it got warm, it wouldn't remain stable. Finally, I got the courage to ignore the horror stories about installing the Hogue Handall and spent the $10. I read the instructions carefully, along with the reviews here on Amazon, and pretty much followed them to a T.: After soaking the grip for about 5 minutes in a bowl of water I had boiled, I began the stretching exercises. It's hot, so be careful or wear gloves, but the key is slow and constant pressure to allow the rubber time to expand. While is was heating up, I followed the instructions to cut out the "shoehorns" and had my spray bottle of Windex handy. As soon as I felt it was sufficiently "dialated", I sprayed the cr@p out of everything with Windex, inserted the shoehorns, and began the adventure. Without question, it required a lot of force to get the grip stretched over the mag well opening - more slow stretching and another dousing with Windex - but once there, working it into position was not too hard. Make absolutely certain your firearm is clear and unloaded. I had to brace the muzzle against my body to get the proper leverage to be able to pull steadily enough for the stretch I needed. No one wants to take three slugs to the belly installing a new grip! Once it all dried, the grip was secure and feels great. Summer isn't here yet, but after a reasonable range session, the Hogue grip is still right where I put it. For ten bucks, and a small bruise on the tummy, it seems to be worth it.

Installation is very very difficult. It would be impossible to just do it with your bare hands. Unless you've got some jaws of life type hands. Took me about 15 minutes. After watching a few videos I did my best to stretch out the grip with my fingers and mash it together to soften it. Then I washed it with soap and water and left the inside of it wet when I'll initially tried installing. I tried that for about 5 minutes with no luck. It just wouldn't stretch the opposite side. Note: always start with the beavertail side first. It would be impossible to do it the other way around. After my first fail, I ran the grip under hot water in my sink for about a minute, put some more soap on the inside and tried again. This time, I'm assuming because of the heat, it stretched a bit further and then I just muscled it down until the top portion of the grip was on. I was able to muscle it a bit more but after about 10 minutes, I found myself at a plateau where my hands would keep slipping and I couldn't get it any further. I grabbed a rag for better grip and used it to pull the grip down the rest of the way. Worked perfectly. Now, it's almost as if it feels like a full sized pistol. The only thing that bugged me a bit was that it felt like my middle finger was squeezed in between the nodule of the grip and the trigger guard, but this makes for a better grip altogether. I definitely would feel more confident in my grip now If I ever found myself in the unthinkable situation where I had to fight for my weapon. Very happy with the purchase.

Hogue grips are excellent, there’s no question to how well they are made or about their functionality. I want to provide some insight on my experience with placing this on my Bodyguard 2.0. I’m not sure if I like it or not for the BG2.0 because without the grip, the handle is smooth so to speak on the front under the trigger guard, and the guard itself has a good cut out (or indentation) for your middle finger. I can get three fingers on the handle and I have large hands, though my pinky is not fully seated up on the handle, it’s seated enough I consider it a full grip. When I put the hogue on the handle, all of this changed, primarily because there is a bump out on the grip, separating the middle finger from the ring finger. This essentially pushes the ring finger down and therefore pushes my pinky down, causing my pinky to no longer be able to fully grip the handle. Now it has to sit underneath the mag, or I can place it on the handle and obtain about a 50% grip as the bottom of the handle now rests about half way into the width of my finger. Again I don’t know if I like it because while the hogue adds texture, a wider grip, and ultimately a better placement of the middle and ring fingers, pushing my pinky off the grip makes me feel like I’m holding an LCP, one of the exact reasons as to why I went out and spent $400 on the BG2.0. Aside from this, it took me less than five minutes to slip it on without any sort of magical techniques that people seem to go on about, and I’m still giving it 5 stars because Hogue makes a terrific aftermarket grip, regardless of my experience with this particular model.

Fit the wife's bodyguard 2.0 .380 perfectly. Now the grip doesn't scratch her sides. Still gives a good firm handle of the gun and doesn't get slippery when wet or sweaty.
