Moisture meter
This wood moisture meter is great. It has prevented me from putting green wood on the fire and having a fire that is not giving out the heat that it should be. The meter is small enough to fit in my pocket and is also rechargeable. On the plus side of things it has four settings and a calibration setting so I am able to check my walls for dampness and also packaging etc... The company also sent me a spare set of pins and the spanner so I can change the pins as and when I need to. So yes, all in all a great wee piece of equipment that is cheap and very user friendly.

Accurate and Easy to Use
I bought this pinless moisture meter to check a ceiling and wall where I suspected there might be water damage from a possible leak in the attic. I'm really impressed with how well it worked. First off, the device feels well-built and is very easy to use. The instructions are clear, and it powers on quickly. Being rechargeable is a big plus. No need to worry about constantly replacing batteries, which is perfect as I decided to go as "replaceable battery-free" as possible a while ago. The LCD color display is bright and easy to read, even in dim lighting. The meter gives quick readings and has clear indicators that help you understand the moisture levels right away, with different zones for dry, borderline, and damp areas. I especially liked the non-invasive, pinless design. It allowed me to check large areas of the wall and ceiling without making any marks or damage, which is a problem with the more common pin designs available out there. I compared multiple spots and could clearly see where moisture levels were higher, helping me narrow down the source of the leak. It also works on multiple surfaces, including wood and masonry, which makes it versatile enough for general home maintenance or for use in a caravan or garage, and it comes in a carry/storage bag to prevent scratches to the screen. Overall, this is a very useful tool to have around the house. It gave me peace of mind and helped me spot a problem early before it got worse. Highly recommended if you need a reliable way to check for damp without damaging surfaces.

Great tool! It’s easy to use and the display is easy to read. accurate readings. Doesn’t leave pin holes in wood to test moisture. Would recommend

Simple to use with a clear display, and good quality.
This is a very good device; well made and simple to use. It has a clear display and also has a 'beep' warning if something is too damp. I originally bought a Dryzone device, which was very good but too complicated for my needs as it requires you to identify exactly what species of wood you have. This device is simpler as you just have to choose hardwood or softwood, so it's deal for checking firewood, which is what I mainly need it for.

OK & easy to use.
I wasn't sure what to expect after reading some negative reviews but the meter I received, the MT-28 upgraded version, has initially proven itself useful and seems to be accurately measuring moisture. I was initially concerned I'd been sent the wrong meter as the box indicated a different display. Closer inspection of the rear of the box, the Amazon listing, and the meter display itself all matched though. Presumably the supplier/manufacturer is using up the non-upgraded meter box stock. Inside the sturdy box the meter is supplied in a soft plastic bag which is within a drawstring cloth pouch. The meter itself has a bit of a cheap feel to it. The black plastic is shiny and feels like it would easily crack if dropped, although the green plastic areas are grippy. The screen itself is nice and clear but it loses contrast if viewed angled. Outdoors the screen is obliterated even in British overcast conditions, so be warned if you're thinking of using this outside anywhere as you'll struggle to read the screen. It also shows the backlighting around the edges when viewed from an angle (see photo). On the back of the meter there are 4 soft pads to help prevent damage to walls. The supplied battery was healthy and is a snug fit in the compartment, the lid of which fits flat. The user guide supplied is informative and details how to calibrate the meter, but it does say this should only be done if it starts giving positive readings where none should exist. For £30 this is at the high end of what I think this meter is worth, and £20-£25 is probably a more realistic price. I tested the meter on a number of surfaces and was happy enough with the results given, they were in-line with expectations. For me I needed the ability to see increasing and decreasing readings as I traced leaks, rather than spot on accurate moisture content. The meter has a 4% accuracy tolerance. Following a long undiscovered leak I have a wall which provided a perfect test subject. The meter started off with expected moisture readings high up and progressively increased the lower I took the meter down to the ground where the leak had been happening. Likewise, going sideways the meter reading increased as I went from a dry area across to the point of the leak. Time will tell how reliable the meter will be. Properly looked after it should last a while. Interestingly the manufacturers offer a 3 year warranty but no obvious means of registering it with them. Presumably it's a case of directly contacting them and I'm doubtful it's a worthwhile warranty tbh.
