I bought this to test bought and forged logs for my wood stove and in this function it has performed perfectly.Returning to wood I set aside owing to its being too damp, I've seen the moisture reading steadily decrease as the wood dries out, so the device certainly gives a consistent and reliable reading. However, that is only with hardwood logs and softwood kindling - I've not checked the moisture meter's performance on walls.The display is bright enough and easy to read. In addition, an audible signal indicates whether your material is within "dry, medium or damp" ranges, so it can be used even when you can't read the display. I'm not sure how well a PP3 battery will power the meter; I'd have preferred something like a 18650 battery for extended use and being able to be recharged.However, this moisture meter is super value, has a solid case and - being pinless - is fast and simple to use. Good value, and you even get a little drawstring bag to keep it safe.

I bought this pinless moisture meter to check a ceiling and wall where I suspected there might be water damage from a possible leak in the attic. I'm really impressed with how well it worked.First off, the device feels well-built and is very easy to use. The instructions are clear, and it powers on quickly. Being rechargeable is a big plus. No need to worry about constantly replacing batteries, which is perfect as I decided to go as "replaceable battery-free" as possible a while ago.The LCD color display is bright and easy to read, even in dim lighting. The meter gives quick readings and has clear indicators that help you understand the moisture levels right away, with different zones for dry, borderline, and damp areas.I especially liked the non-invasive, pinless design. It allowed me to check large areas of the wall and ceiling without making any marks or damage, which is a problem with the more common pin designs available out there. I compared multiple spots and could clearly see where moisture levels were higher, helping me narrow down the source of the leak.It also works on multiple surfaces, including wood and masonry, which makes it versatile enough for general home maintenance or for use in a caravan or garage, and it comes in a carry/storage bag to prevent scratches to the screen.Overall, this is a very useful tool to have around the house. really like this little gadget! its effective, seems accurate (not entirely sure how youd ever test this in reality unless you had two side by side) and its easy to use!i use it for testing bow staves as they season and its only let down so far is that occasionally it will fail to read; so i test my skin, get a reading and then it kicks back into life and will read the wood properly. hardly a game breaker but its an issue that is there.overall pretty decent device.
