ESSENTIAL ADDITION TO CAR SEATS!!!
I have to say the Soonsi car seat cooling pad liner w/ fan is MIRACULOUS... AMAZING... INDISPENSIBLE. Many other superlatives apply. Why? Because our infant... since less than a month old... has been prone to overheating in the car seat (and VERY angry when he overheats). When we had the first experience of him screaming nonstop for 15-20 minutes on the road (we pulled over and found him drenched head to toe), the first thing we bought was just a cooling mesh pad. Which worked great until he got to about 12-15 lbs, then his weight squished it down so it no longer worked. He went right back to interrupting our drives about 1 hour in, hot and sweaty. He also developed a hatred for the car seat for a while... until we started using this, and now he loves his car seat again, will actually sit in it for a LONG time since he's actually comfortable. We found this one early on, but didn't pull the trigger because of some very negative reviews (weak fan, unreliable), plus they said it was only for front-facing seats. (The mesh pads were much higher rated.) But the Soonsi was literally the ONLY product for infants with active ventilation. So we ordered it, and here's what we found:PROS:1. IT REALLY WORKS. Our baby now lasts through 2.5-3 hr long drives with NO issues/screaming fits. I even tried it on low and medium settings in temperate climates and still keeps my baby's back cool.2. The proof is in the pudding. Our baby's back stays COOL for hours. We further notice the difference when the thing doesn't get turned on (human error): hot, sweaty, screaming ensues in 30-60 minutes.3. The pad seems to be easy to clean and dries quickly. We have had two blowouts; washed with mild dish soap and repeated rinse-blot cycles with paper towels, and it seems to dry within a couple of hours.4. Also works on rear facing car seats (we have a Doona); just flip the fan part up instead of letting it hang down. Some new holes need to be cut to accommodate the Doona's strap locations.CONS:1. Not a con: other reviewers are correct, actual air movement is hardly felt from the pad. BUT it actually works2. The pad is quite rigid, so placing it can be a bit challenging3. I believe a 5V 2.1 or 2.4 amp USB connector might be more useful than the cigarette adapter it comes with, but depends on your setupBATTERY TIP:For travel systems (car seat clips into a stroller base) or the Doona (car seat turns into stroller) where extended time is spent in the car seat, I recommend using the Soonsi with a portable power bank of about 20,000 mAh (lasts hours even on high speed) to continue the cooling even outside the car. You basically have two options:1. A lithium battery jump starter with a cigarette female adapter is the easiest solution, but these can be bulky and obnoxious colors2. Traditional portable power bank with USB 2.1 or 2.4 amp ports and a USB to cigarette female adapterI suspect a LOT of infants and toddlers who hate car seats may not actually hate car seats but just hate the hot, swampy misery it causes. Even those who "do fine" once they're front facing may be heat related; having more distractions could simply distract them from the misery. And for those who go from a small rear facing to a larger "convertible" car seat will suddenly have more room, reducing the heat buildup.I definitely recommend this car seat cooler with fan.

Works great, can be run off USB battery bank with 12V/car cigarette adapter
Works great, keeps our little guy cool and comfortable, definitely less sweaty on those hot east coast days. We use it on our stroller. I was a little worried about this working though since it requires a 12V car cigarette plug, however I used USB-to-12V adapter (see link below) as someone else mentioned in one of their reviews and it works great; we can take it up to full speed and the battery was able to keep the fan running while we were at the zoo for a few hours. Not sure how this product would work and a vehicle with A/C that doesn’t blow very hard
I had to cut the slot where the release button at the bottom is because it wasn’t big enough. I’m not sure how this product would work in a vehicle with AC that does not blow very hard like mine. I have fans that stick to the window that blow on him as well so I think that it’s helping the product work because it works with the AC it’s not just a fan. Whenever I take him out of the car seat he doesn’t look like a tomato and he’s not drenched in sweat anymore so I think that the combined products together have been really working for us personally.

Does the job, but needs modifications to make it more user-friendly
We purchased this for our special needs son who can't regulate his body temperature. It does work well, however it only works if his legs stay away from the intake fan (which is right between the legs and is fairly large) and your vehicle has to be very cold (which ours always is) since it takes in the air from the vehicle. Also it is very difficult to get to the release strap because that's where the fan is and makes it quite a pain to get my child in and out of his seat, which it already is to begin with. We recently just got a Carrot3 car seat and are making modifications to it to make it better. I think this is a wonderful idea, just think the engineer needs to talk to some moms and dads to get a more user-friendly design.

Not safe
This would not fit in my sons car seat. There is no where for the shoulder straps to go so it just bunches up. When we tried putting him in the seat the shoulder straps would not stay on his his shoulders because this was in the way. You can not safely use this with the car seat and we returned it. Terrible design. Do not buy.

Does the job...well...a little too well...
Great seat cooler for my kid’s car seat. We’re in Dallas so you can imagine it gets hot. My son use to be drenched when driving to school and back (10 minutes one way), but with this cooler, he’s dry and comfortable. In fact, sometimes it’s too cold. Only wished the controls could go lower. I’ll probably add a resistor to the load to create my own setting. But does the job well...maybe a little too well.

Great product and even greater customer service!
We have had this for going on 2 years now and it works great! Our child is kept cool and comfortable and it's a must have for those of you living in hotter climates. We recently had the cord to the power adapter snap off, however the customer service was outstanding as they offered a free replacement of the fan unit even though we were out of warranty. I really appreciate companies that exemplify this type of service and they truly stand by their product.

Doesn’t work for long...
When it worked, it was helpful for the humid hot summer days. I would turn my car on, put the a/c on, and plug in the car seat cooling pad, and let the car cool down before I put the baby in. My baby was comfortable and no longer hated car rides. The problem is, it only lasted 1 month for us. Luckily, I purchased insurance for it. The fan stopped working. If I had to guess, the curly cord or the car adapter is the problem. I just don’t think it is meant to last long. I reviewed this item at 2 stars, because it did work well- when it actually worked, if you used it the correct way.
