Pen Oiler for Oiling Grandfather Clocks

If you own a grandfather clock, this tool is exactly what you need to regularly oil the mechanism. It allows you to deposit just the right amount in the right spot. It's very important to use the right kind of oil (never use WD40!) and the right amount (one tiny drop in each well).Oiling the clock is an extremely simple process that does not require taking apart the clock, however if you've never done it before, there are a few how-to videos on YouTube you should check out first.The oiling pen contains only 5ml of oil -- it's not much, but unless you own a clock factory, that's probably enough to last you a lifetime.The long needle is perfect to deliver the drop of oil in just the right spot with a minimum of fuss.Finally, you can't beat the price. Since whale oil is no longer available this stuff seems to work well. You don't get much oil but you only need to wet the pivots and the long slender needle helps get into those tight places.I don't know how this stuff holds up against the test of time but we shall see. That is why only 4 stars.

There are many similar clock oilers, and probably this one is more than I will ever need. Still, it's good to have a long extension needle to easily reach inside the innard gears and bearings. After years, those metal-on-metal bearings (no jewels in standard movements) develop enough friction to make the works unreliable.An oiler like this is sure cheaper and easier than having the mechanism rebuilt.

Was perfect for my task. I acquired a non working grandfather clock from a friend who didn't want it taking up space in her house and didn't want to pay to have it fixed. So with a trip to youtube, and this pen oiler, I set to work tinkering with the clock. Had it working within the day once it had a good oiling. I love the long metal tip on this oiler because it got to all the spots without me having to tear apart the clock mechanism too much.

This small precise oiling pen is excellent. I was allowed to precisely apply oil to a wind up alarm clock. The squeezable bottle that oil is contained in works well in helping apply oil drops instead of a pool of oil. The extended tip allows a reach into tight spots. Great product!As a side note: the clock is now keeping perfect time after the oil was applied to the mechanical moving parts of the clock.

My 40 old grandfather clock had never been oiled and quite running. Cleaned the works in laquor thinner, air dried and lightly lubed each bearing point...runs like a CLOCK....great stuff. PS never use 3 in 1 or like oils. gps

Needle is thin enough and long enough to oil an oscillating fan without taking the brill/blades apart. Have also used it to oil an old kids toy without taking it apart (thermally welded plastic would not have been easy to put back together). Just those two alone has saved me enough time to be COMPLETELY worth the purchase. Item was received and works well. Tip is strong enough to gently file to a point (better drop placement at odd angels) but still thin enough to get into really tight places.
