SolidDesign Big Digital LED Clock (Red LED - 12 inches) with Calendar - Shelf or Wall Mount

Excellent clock for we with less-than-perfect vision. Note that complaints about excessive brightness of the LED display are directed at displays with BLUE LEDs. This is because current blue LEDs are made of a chemical composition that yields a much brighter output than LEDs of other colors. Reviewers of other electronic devices featuring BLUE LEDs always complain about the excessive brightness of the blue LEDs. My choice was/is for the RED LED version, both because the red LED is tolerably bright without being annoying and the military prefers red lighting in near-dark conditions to prevent "night blindness" where bright light (other than red) causes the iris of the eye to close down for several minutes after the light is removed.I would prefer a similar clock with the ability to set time to the second for "time hacks"; that would allow synchronizing the clock time to standard time standards like WWV and observatory clocks on the internet. Such a clock would be more useful to accompany a TV in a darkened room when one is reviewing TV time schedules.

I bought this for my Mother, age 95. She could not keep track of what day of the week it is. She is not crazy about it due to the use of the little red dot lights for the display. She thinks it's hard to read. Perhaps the information on the bottom line (Day/MM/DD) is too close together making it look like one line. I find it very clear and easy to read.

I purchased this clock for my elderly mother-in-law in assisted living who really likes to keep track of the day and date, but has increasing dementia issues. It works great for her. She is much less agitated about this issue now that she has the clock to look at whenever she forgets what day it is.The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that it is so so so bright. If I drive by her room at night, I can see a blue glow coming from the window a block away. This bothers me, but she is completely fine with it. In fact, if it wasn't so bright I don't think she could see it. She also has a hard time sometimes with the day abbreviations, especially Tue for Tuesday. But I don't think that could be helped.If you are purchasing this for someone with dementia, you should be happy with it. But be prepared for the brightness!!!

It is missing an insert for the adapter

Its wa a good buy and big numbers on display and light intensity are very good for the night. The point I didnt like was the power cable, it could be better if it had a long duration battery.

I received this large clock out of the box One number was dim, then when I tried to set it up the day of the week does not match up with the date. You can adjust the time and the date, but not the day of the week. It always shows one day off, and I have no idea why it has an extra zero (09:15) This was a big disappointment.

My father is in the veterans nursing home (WWII Hero) and is in the last stages of Parkinson's. So he can't move and is pretty much bed riden. It has always been important for him to know what day it was and the time of day. There was a clock in his room but he was getting confused if it was morning or evening or what day it was. This clock is just perfect! It is large enough to have on the wall in front of his bed and he can see it so clearly. What a difference it has made. Now he not only knows the time but the day, month and morning or evening. It has made such a difference in all our days with him. I love it as much as he does.

This clock works perfectly and is easy to see by anyone in the room. I would definately recommend if you like it.
