Drilling Technology in Nontechnical Language

This book is a great introduction to drilling, but not without its troubles. Devereux accomplishes what he sets out to do by giving a comprehensive overview of the the industry with as little jargon as possible. Most of the discussion and accompanying figures are easily understood, helpful, and enjoyable.The troubles start with vague and unclear writing. Sure the language is simple, but the writing often leads to confusion with ambiguous subject and object references. There are also factual issues, the first of which is encountered on page four as a reference to the mantle as liquid rock. This, and other inaccuracies, leaves the reader questioning the possibility of other mistakes. Some figure number references are questionable. Overall this book could use a serious revision.

Well what can I say. I have read the book. its interesting but lit confused to read because of some missing information that yo need to understand before you do. After reading once and try to read over again, I had to stop it. But I would recommend

I work in the industry and in my country the books about drilling are practically inexistent. The book is simple, the language is clear and the content is pretty basic. It worths what it costs.

I like the book because it has really good overview of drilling technology and nice refresher for petroleum engineers getting into drilling. But it was not new as stated! it is used (see pictures) and some parts of the books are highlighted by previous user, I don't like that! Don't false advertise the book as new when it isn't.

A technical area described in simple terms easy to follow and understand.

Very interesting overview of drilling technology, with nontechnical language. Almost everything is covered within the field of drilling. Two thumbs up !
