Aura Digital HD Picture Frame, Best Frame for Gifting, Carver, 10" Black (10" - Gravel Mat)

The Aura feels like it's intended to be given as a gift, and it has some nice features to make that easier. I was able to set one up quickly for my 88-year-old aunt, including setting it up for her wifi (since I knew the SSID and pass). Adding pictures from your phone is easy too, and the process to invite others to add photos is mostly painless. I was impressed enough by all that to order one for myself, which also was pretty easy - I will say though that in my case, trying to add photos from old backups (that weren't in Google Photos on my phone, that is) proved to be a little more awkward. In principle you can email photos to a unique address associated with your phone. That's fine for one or two, but I had hundreds, and gmail wouldn't send more that 3-4 as attachments on a single message. Texting them was actually easier (I had the files on small usb-c drive I could just plug into the phone). I won't need to do that often, but it would be nice if there was a simple web UI you could drag and drop files onto. I decided not to hang mine on the wall (mainly due to the power cord) and go with the stand, which is a solid hunk of cast aluminum (or maybe zinc) painted to match, a little tricky to slot in but very stable feeling.

Best gift I’ve ever received! I have the black 5x7 frame. I have also purchased and given two frames as gifts. Instructions are clear and simple. Set up is super easy. There is unlimited storage capacity and the app offers a lot of versatility. To have options for length of time photos are on the screen, if you want one portrait photo with your choice of black or white background or two portrait photos per slide, automatic on and off, and if you want to play LivePhotos and videos. The picture quality and color is perfect. You can choose to share access for uploading with anyone so they can send photos to your frame and you can also delete a photo whenever if you want. You can choose to shuffle the order of photos or have them shown in the order you add them. Best part for me is the reliability of knowing no matter where I am in the world, I can receive a text with a photo and immediately send it to my frame. The only downside, which makes perfect sense, is you cannot choose to stand the frame up. The 5x7 frame sits as a landscape frame, thus shows landscape photos as full screen and portrait shaped photos with empty space on each side or two portrait photos side by side. I would totally purchase another 5x7 if it came in the upright portrait position for this reason. Anyway, gone are the days of printed photos in photo albums and the excess physical space needed to keep them. If you like taking pictures and/or enjoy looking at them, get an Aura frame, you’ll love it!

I decided to write this review two years after purchasing, simply because it has become a family staple. I love this picture frame so much, and use it daily. I have it in my kitchen so that I can see it all of the time. My children will sit for 30 minutes, just to watch our pictures and videos. It has been plugged in and on every day for two years. Still works as new! The size and shape are typical of a normal picture frame, but the functionality is lightyears better. I love that my kids can see photos from before they were born, as babies, and current. The randomness of the pictures, makes it exciting to sit and watch. They often scroll through the images (using the top Touch Bar) soaking up all of the memories. They love to play video clips, sometime with sound, and ask questions about the timeframe. It is a perfect solution for all of those photos in your phone that you forget about. I love that the frame is horizontal, but shows two vertical photos side by side. Sometimes they match up the photos to make the photo story stronger. It even plays Live Photos, which is fun. The color is sleek, and it looks like a nice decor frame. The sentimental value is what keeps me coming back watching it. I loved it so much, that I purchased two more for my mom and mother in law for Christmas gifts. Easy setup, even for elderly. The app is easy to use. There is even a shortcut to send the photo straight to your phone, without opening the app. In the app, you can control the frame settings, like face matching photos, slideshow speed, volume, and more. You can even change the photo to display on the frame right from the app. Display one photo for a long time, or run a slideshow of all of your photos. You can also have it time out when the room is dark, good for bedtime. When the lights turn on, or the sun comes up, your frame is already on and waiting for you to watch with a smile. Another huge feature is that you can connect to other people’s frames by invites. Once the frame is connected to your app, you can send photos to their frames. Perfect for grandparents to get continuous updated photos, or for them to share photos with you. 10/10 recommend. Great for families and so simple I don’t even have to think about it. Just enjoy the nostalgia of lost photos. Great conversation starters with my kids.

Easy to use, can upload pictures from your phone while on vacation. The frame also allows you to crop a photo to ensure it is aligned in the fram easily. If you want to see a specific photo, you can select display now. We have 2 of these frames and the visual is stunning. The Picture Frame turns off when there is no light in the room

I gave this frame to my wife as a gift for Christmas and it got a way better response than I anticipated. My wife and kid immediately fell in love with it. The display quality is great - not just great for a digital frame but genuinely great. I've seen other family members receive no name or off brand frames in recent years and the screens always look TERRIBLE. Bad viewing angles and colors, brightness and contrast which are just glaring to look at. Just over all bad displays. This Aura frame's screen is the centerpiece of the device and thankfully it delivers and impresses easily. I like that the device is cloud connected (even while I try to reduce my reliance on cloud services) for the simple fact that Aura app makes it extremely simple and convenient to add and manage photos/videos on the device. I do wish it had offline, onboard storage as an option but in my experience you end up adding a few hundred pictures at the beginning and maybe 1 or 2 more times and then the photo frame is just full of 5 year pictures with new new content. Aura makes it incredibly easy to add new content and gifting it is where it really shines. If you're giving this as a gift, you have the ability to upload photos to Aura's servers, via the app, and when the recipient activates the frame, they will automatically download all the photos you preloaded their frame with. This is a great experience for the recipient because they can have hundreds or 1000s of pictures viewable on the device within 5 minutes of setup without any work on their end. The owner can manage who else may add photos to frame remotely so this allows different family members or friends to send photos to your frame - great feature in my opinion. Photos can be uploaded via mobile app (We've only used Apple devices so far), SMS/MMS, or email. This is pretty flexible and allows anyone with a photo capable phone share photos regardless of mobile ecosystem. Email is another nice OS agnostic option. I'd preferably like to use a web site but didn't see that as an option. Please be aware you run the risk of the photo frame either being bricked or not able to add more content if Aura goes out of business or discontinues support for this device and/or their app. My only gripe with the device is that it cannot be wall mounted. Aura does make other frames which may be wall mounted but they are larger and more expensive.

I love to take pictures. I have so many photo albums, but I rarely look at them. :0( I am by no means a professional photographer, but I love taking pictures so much so, that I am never in any of the pictures. LOL. My son, seeing my love of photography, bought me my very first digital picture frame. I was a bit skeptical...was it going to be complicated, something I use one time and never again, or simply a waste of money. OMG...it was absolutely the best gift ever!! The digital picture frame is so easy to use. The instructions are simple to understand, uploading the pictures and short videos from any of my devices took seconds to do. It is so easy and quick, I upload my pictures and videos throughout the day from wherever I am. I have also given permission for my son to upload any of his special pictures to one of my picture frames. He sends pictures to my picture frame when is out camping in the mountains, vacationing at beach resorts, etc... His pictures just appear on my digital picture frame shortly after he sends them. Such a wonderful surprise!! The digital picture frame automatically turns on in the morning (senses the light) and off in the evening (when dark). I think this feature is so convenient. Note: At night when the room is dark and picture frame is off, the picture frame will come back on when the room light is turned on. I love that!! Since I have more than one digital picture frame, the app allows me to give each picture frame a different 'name' so when uploading a picture, I can easily choose the frame I want to send the picture to. Deleting, adjusting or centering uploaded pictures on the picture frame within the app is so easy to do as well. I bought the 10" digital picture frame because I will be uploading my 35mm scanned pictures into the picture frame...the 10" picture frame quality is great, and it keeps these 35mm pictures from becoming too grainy. I will be buying the larger 15" digital picture frame to display my favorite better-quality digital camera pictures. So, for those of you who like to take lots of pictures, have old 35mm pictures in photo albums and want share and enjoy your pictures in a fun way, buy a digital picture frame. After uploading your pictures to the frame, get a cup of coffee, invite your friends and family, and watch all your wonderful pictures as they are displayed in a continuous loop on this amazing digital picture frame. These digital picture frames make amazing gifts too! :0) Enjoy!!

Easy no hassle set up, no monthly fees and nice bight display. Everyone just loves it. We set ours to run from 10am to 11pm everyday. It is wonderful to glance up and rekindle memories that are kept alive through the hundreds of pictures that pop up, 15 seconds at a time, all through the day. I highly recommend this photo frame for anyone. Also makes a great gift!

This is my third aura frame, each bought 6 months apart — clearly I really like them. Plusses: * Easy to upload pictures from your computer via a webpage * No cloud storage fees * Nice looking, works well. The touch scroll bar works well. * Turns on and off at night, based on the room brightness. (No internal clock or settings needed.) * Super easy to setup. Minuses: * 1080 resolution is not good enough if you are up close. Edges and diagonal lines in the photos look pixelated when displayed in the frame. A 2k or 3k resolution frame would be much better, and I would be willing to pay for the difference. I would probably upgrade all my frames, if higher resolution versions became available. * The metadata for the photos is not retained, so if you want to add a caption a week later, you need to find the photo on your computer, without knowing the name or date of the file. * The web uploader works, but is a disappointment. It only shows some recent uploads, not all of the photos that you have uploaded, and you can’t caption the photo at upload time. I’d like to see the web uploader have a full browse of all the photos in the frame, as well retaining any metadata and filenames that came with the photo. A phone is a lousy way to browse through all your uploads, and is an awkward way to enter long captions. * I’d like to be able to backup all the photos in the Aura cloud -- back them up to my computer, so I could quickly reconstruct the frame if something went wrong at Aura’s end.

This is a great product especially for friends and family who are spread around the world. The ability to share pictures and see them daily is a joy.

This is the best gift I've ever given my I -laws and my parents. We can send photos of the grandkids from anywhere right to their frame. The setup wasn't as easy as I had hoped, but once setup, it's the best thing ever. Everyone raves about the frame, it's nice looking with several options for the look, and it's fantastic for families who live far apart or even close by. We can add, they can add, and anyone you send the link to can add.

Love it, so good and my wife really found intuitive to set up. Great bit of kit, and nice build quality.
