Worth a try!
This did work on my Porsche CDR Becker 220. They started skipping again, but it can be that I am putting some old scratch CDs too.

READ THE SMALL PRINT
This product says quote The cd 240s advanced angular design was created to ensure safe and effective cleaning for any application. End quote. Then it says quote Not for laptops. End quote. So I called the 800 tech support and they said do not use on a laptop because it might get stuck. Well I guess this is going to be a gift now since I only have a laptop.

Cheap enough not to buy
I reccomend using a cleaner every few weeks. THis one was cheap enough that I give it away to my video clients. I ask themto use it before they watch my productions on their players. It makes sure my movie plays well

Wish I'd had it sooner
I read all the reviews before & after purchase and maybe I can clear up a few things. I've never had a lens cleaner and didn't know how it works. Well, it's a standard CD but on the opposite side has a tiny little brush attached that looks strikingly like a false eyelash for a Barbie doll. Who knew?! I had a couple electronics about that were giving me fits. A DVD player that habitually herky-jerked around, either garbling dialogue/scenes or stopping entirely. (The DVD gremlins know to do this just in the middle of key moments, leaving you talking back to the screen: "Wait! Who was the killer?!") And a CD player that wasn't letting me listen to the CDs I'd checked out of the library, playing a little, getting scrambled up and jumping to the end. How was I ever going to decide what I thought of Cold Fact this way? (I was intrigued after viewing the fascinating DVD Searching For Sugar Man.)Some of the reviews expressed disappointment over what this product is intended to do. The labeling says it's for CDs, DVDs, and standard CD gaming systems. It is not for lap tops or blu-ray machines. It states specifically "Do not use with PS3 or any other Blu-Ray game players." The detailed user instructions are printed on the opposite side of the cover insert:1. Insert the CD-240 Lens Cleaner with the graphics side facing up. Press play. NOTE: To clean and skip instructions select Track II.2. Play Track II for 20 seconds. During the cleaning process you will hear a tone. This is your indication that the LENS is being cleaned. At the end of 20 seconds you may switch to Track III and enjoy the music or press stop and eject the CD-240 Lens Cleaner.3. Carefully remove the cleaning disk [sic] from the player and return it to the jewel case.4. You should clean your CD player LENS after every 10 hours of use.5. Maxell recommends that you replace product when the brush becomes visibly worn or after 40 uses.I tried the lens cleaner out on the DVD player (that I'm quite certain had never been cleaned) and a DVD that had been jumping around played flawlessly after the cleaning. And while I think my CD player still has issues that go beyond the scope of a mere cleaning, I can confidently tell you I indeed like Sixto's Cold Fact as I have now heard it play all the way through without incident after using the Maxell lens cleaner. For less than 3 bucks this purchase was absolutely worth it. It has salvaged two of my electronics, giving them reprieve from the local Electronics Recycling bin for at least a bit longer. Oh! Lest I forget, the "music" referred to that is played on Track III of the cleaner? My, my, it is happenin'. Every bit as good as what you'd hear in a typical elevator, dentist office or mid-range department store. Get down, Maxell.

Great product
I bought this cleaner as a last ditch effort before I bought a new CD player/music system to replace my Boston Acoustics system. The player was about five years old and I kept having error messages when I tried to play a CD. I would have to insert and reinsert the CD multiple times before it would play a CD whether it was a burned CD or a manufactured CD. I researched that I needed to unplug the unit for 48 hours and then restart it and that would help for a while. But then I was doing that it seemed every couple weeks. I had had enough! So I looked into Bose systems and other systems to replace my system, but the thought of buying something new for $400 when I had a unit that had great sound when it worked was too much. So, I thought let me try to just clean the lenses. Perhaps that might help and it was only an 9 dollar purchase, much cheaper than buying a new system. Well, I bought the lens cleaner and at first i put it in and followed the audio directions that our provided (so easy!) and then tried out the system and I still had difficulties. I was bummed. Then I decided to just try it again and let it play a little longer. Well, I am happy to say that I since I have used the cleaner in April of this year I have not had any of the previous issues and I have my player back!!! This is the best $9 I have spent! I would highly recommend the product especially if you are in the same situation that I was in.
