What exactly gives the coloring behind the panels of the handle for the butterfly wing design & how durable is it?

The colorful “wings” are anodized metal. The knife is well made and really pretty in person.

Normally open, or rely on thumb nails.

Can i loosen the screws slightly, so i can flick it open? Just seems a little stiff.

Ours was stiff at first but we just opened and closed it till it loosened up. But yes you could loosen the screws to have it open as you like
