Vitamin C Affordable Excellence
First and foremost, we all know that 20% potency is where it's at for Vitamin C serums and this delivers just that. It has noticeably helped brighten and even out my skin, especially pesky leftover marks from the occasional breakouts I still get. I also believe the addition of Ferulic Acid and Vitamin E enhances its effectiveness, providing that extra shield against free radicals. Honestly I'm just playing the long game and hoping these benefits prove true in time, ha! Comparing this serum to the much more expensive Skinceuticals alternative, I can confidently say this much more budget-friendly option holds its own. The ingredients list is nearly identical as you'll find on SkinSkool which is what drove me to try this. It was perfectly clear on arrival and has that classic Vitamin C serum scent, IYKYK. I've had it about 6 weeks now and the formula still hasn't taken on that darkening amber color so I trust that the batches are fresh and production quality is high with this brand. Will purchase again and not have to feel so bad about using it on both my face and décolletage given the price point!

Stable and brightening
*update* I am now happy this isnt Prime anymore. I tried a couple other serums with similar ingredients after this was no longer available for subscribe and save and they were awful. The other products I tried to replace this with were sticky and scented. Just terrible formulas imo. I ended up ordering Dr. Brenners again regardless of the non Prime status because I now knew this serum is superior. Ive ordered twice now where the item is shipping from what I assume is the Dr. Brenners warehouse vs an Amazon warehouse and the its obvious the formula is fresher than it was when it was on Prime. Now its always very clear and it feels more "activated" when applying. Dr. Brenners warehouse also ships it nicely wrapped in tissue paper and it feels like I am recieving a quality well packaged item. Sometimes the serum when it shipped Prime had already started to oxidize before Id even opened the bottle. As a side note, I used to use another vitamin c serum from Pauals Choice at triple the price as this serum is and Dr. Brenners is still better. This is one of the 1st and few face products Ive used where I could visibly see a difference in my skin and knew that my skin looked better as a direct result of this one product. I recommended this to a friend of mine and she noted the same thing. I love this serum and had it on subscribe and save. Im soooo sad its no longer Prime. Ugh. I've tried another brand to replace this one and there's no comparison. I used this one for about a year and my skin was noticeably brighter. Its frangrance free. I love the thin consistency. The Chemist Confession skincare chicks recommended it for the vitamin c being more stable than other comparable products. I found that to be true. It did turn sometimes before it ran out but it worked and I love it. Bring it back on Prime please!!!

Love!!!
Love!! I’ve tried a ton of vitamin C serums and I never really noticed any kind of difference with them but I had come across this one on a medical blog. I have a thyroid problem that makes me have really bad hormonal cystic break outs and it recommend trying this to help prevent break out and fade scars/dark spots. I noticed a HUGE difference after one night of using this!! I wish I would have taken pictures but I didn’t expect it to work so well. I told all my friends to go buy it too. I also recently started using a derma roller (also bought on amazon) with this and literally the next day I’m shocked at how even and toned my skin looks. I subtracted 1 star because even though the product is effective I’m really not a fan of the texture. The serum is sticky which makes it hard to apply and I usually have to wash my hands after because they are also sticky. When I apply the serum I usually have to do it with a night moisturizer or another oil, and sometimes the extra oil makes me have a white head or two the next morning. Nothing serious just the really small kind that scratched off without leaving any kind of mark. But because of the sticky ness of the serum I’m not able to put it on during the day time because it makes my makeup/primer not stick to my skin and almost like peel off? But all that aside it is still awesome and totally worth it and I just keep using it at night stil! Can’t wait to try other dr. Brenner products now!

This before bed and I wake up looking radiant! Bang for your buck!
I do not wear makeup so the face I wake up with is the face I go out with, and since putting this serum (combined with a retinol serum) on at night, I have been loving how my skin looks when I wake up! :) I have been using this for a month so far and am very happy. The serum definitely has a smell (not perfume). I think it reminds me of just hippy oils in general; like geranium, or a more earthy flower. It’s not a good smell, but it is not pungent like a perfume either, so it is easy ignore, especially when put on at night. The serum applies smooth and absorbs into skin quickly. My face is a little shiny for about 20 minutes, but after it is dry to touch and not oily looking or feeling at all. When I wake up the next morning my skin looks and feels moisturized and when I take a shower the next night my face still has the serum on it (which is a good thing in my opinion). My eyes and face look bright and awake from the moment I wake up. It is great to feel confident about my skin without any makeup. We recently moved to the east coast and as winter started to arrive, I found my face looking and feeling very dull and loose (being in my mid twenties and from a Mediterranean climate, this was a very odd thing for me to notice every day). I started my research by asking people for recommendations on skin care for preventing aging. Many expensive products and skincare lines were brought up, so I then began to research what the active ingredients were in such products. I came to the only proven-to-be-potent active ingredients in all the products were either retinol (vitamin a) or vitamin c ( l-ascorbic acid). Going further into research by reading dermatoligicle essays and such, I found that retinol (vitamin a) and vitamin c ( in the form of l-ascorbic acid) have been studied for at least 20 years and been proven time and time again to really help with skin health, photo-aging, and lines. So, looking further into how to make vitamin c the most potent as possible, I found that vitamin c works best when paired with vitamin e, and when ferulic acid is added, the vitamin c is drastically better at protecting your skin from uva and uvb damage (when under sun screen). The hyaluronic acid is good for counteracting any drying effects the vitamin c might have and helps with absorption deeper into the skin. Vitamin c also needs to be between 15%-20% to give the best results. This serum is only 15%, but worth the compromise for all of the other ingredients and the fact that it is l-ascorbic acid and not the synthetic vitamin c that is in a lot of other vitamin c serums. Only l-ascorbic has been studied over 20 years and been found to be gentle/relatively safe on skin and work long term. The synthetic versions are more stable but due to them been rather new, long term studies are not really available yet. Finally, because vitamin c breaks down in the sun, it is best to put it on at night before bed (so it can soak into your skin in the dark and then protect it during the day). Extra bonus; if one uses retinol, putting a vitamin c serum on first improves the ability of retinol to penetrate into the skin and become more potent. This stuff is all the bang for your buck!

Identical to SC ferulic
This is exactly the same as SC CE Ferulic. Maybe better. Same smell ( like hot dog water), consistency, color, and effectiveness. I’ll never go back to paying 130$. For me it’s not sticky, it absorbs well and brightens my skin tone. Also seems to make any blemishes disappear. It’s a great serum. I’ll also say i’ve tried countless Vitamin C serums such as Timeless ( sticky af), SC CE ferulic, Skin Devas (which i did like) Mad Hippies, Ole Henrikson, Tru Skin, etc etc and this one is most like the original SC. It will burn if you use an acid before so be careful. It’s very powerful. Update; People saying it smells like hot dogs it’s supposed to and no it shouldn’t be brown or orange when receiving. Yes it’ll turn color after a few months but that’s the name of the game with real vitamin c. Plan on replacing every 3 months. Store in the fridge for longer effectiveness. Also yes it will sting and burn if you don’t know what you’re doing or are sensitive. Photos are one that turned and one fresh delivered today. I’ve bought several times and never gotten a brown or orange one. Pay attention to the lot numbers. They are making several batches in between and this was since April. The one turned light amber/orange about 3 months after purchase but I didn’t keep it in the fridge. This time I am… The SC one i used to buy was light amber day of delivery and I know now that’s not a good thing. So im still saying this is even better…

Reserved judgment
Just got this a few days ago, so I can't really attest to the effects yet. My write-up isn't about that aspect. Pros: But KUDOS to their NOT being any oil in this. Us sensitive skin types that tend to break out with anything new thank you for not exacerbating that. I've researched far and wide for a high potency Vit C serum (w/ Vit E) WITHOUT oils in it and they don't really exist in a reasonable price point. Others have jojoba or castor seed or something oil in it and I break out so bad with past Vit C serum purchases by other brands instantly; have NOT (yet) with THIS ONE. yay! Next point: yes to having Vit E in there!! Yes, to the type of Vit C in it -- lots of research on this type w/proven results. Its a simple list of ingredients which is easy to decipher. Cons: The smell...someone mentioned it. Like a cross between smoked scent, and a faint whiff of beef jerky. YES! That is it. It's not super potent but it's there..just like a wafting whiff of it as if someone opened beefjerky in another room and you smell it. I hate it. Makes me not want to use it, and keep searching for a unicorn Vit C/E serum. The smell doesn't dissipate, but I have the nickname "super sniffer" so maybe I'm overly sensitive. I layered another face gel-cream with a scent over it to see if that made it go away...nope. it comes through. I will only use this at night now as a result. I hate additives for no reason, and tend to steer clear of heavy fragrance in face products, but this needs an additive fragrance that is as natural as can be and still suitable for sensitive types. Not lavendar, not rose as those can aggravate some. Just something...how about legit citrus fragrance? Also, I'd like it a bit cheaper to be slightly more competitive with comparable companies/products, but it's still reasonable. Fact: it's really watery-liquidy. I wasn't expecting that but that owes to there not being oils in there. Not bad thing, just to note. Will update with results.

Great Vit C + E + Ferulic Acid. Similar to Skinceuticals C E Ferulic for significantly less
Pros: - Great product. Works well. Dermatologists recommend that Vit C for collagen production should be the serum form of L-Ascorbic acid. Vit E makes the formula more powerful. Vit C + E = tocopherol. Ferulic Acid stabilizes. This product has it all and is very similar to the popular Skinceutical C E Ferulic ($166 for 1 fl oz) - It did not arrive oxidized/brown. It showed up clear - I use it every night with L’Occitane 25% Shea Butter. Next day, skin is less haggard, more moisturized, and younger looking, especially under my eyes - Significantly cheaper than buying Vit C product from dept store (Skinceuticals CE Ferulic is $166 for 1 fl oz) Cons: - Smells bad, BUT that’s ALL Vit C products. Vit C always smells bad - If it gets on your lips, wash it off, because it tastes horrible (typical for Vit C products) Guidance: - Reject and return any Vit C product that has turned brown! It means the Vit C has oxidized and does not work well anymore - Keep Vit C in a dark and in a cool place. I keep it in my medicine cabinet behind the mirrors. I turn the lights off when I pull it out and apply. I squeeze all the air out of the dropper/lid and screw dropper tightly back on, after every use - Vit C will break down/oxidize if used with copper peptides, salicylic acid, or retinol, so avoid combining with those moisturizers - Always apply “lighter to heavier.” Serum first, then moisturizer. If your skin is very dry and requires additional shea butter, put that on last - Remember not to use during the day if you’re going outside, because Vit C breaks down under sun and air

I’m subscribed!
I’ve tried various types of Vitamin C products in my skin care regimen before finally learning the potent combination of L-Ascorbic acid (20%) + Ferulic acid. Although I’ve never tried more costly brands containing the combination, after using this product and per general consideration of it being a worthy “dupe,” I don’t think I’ll need to, especially at its fair price point. It’s always difficult to objectively measure the effect of a single product especially when considering the time it takes to realistically expect results (weeks to months), your skin’s condition prior to trying, and the combined effects of other products in your skin care regimen. What I can say, at worse, is this product did not adversely affect or react against my face, and at best, did contribute to smoothening my skin texture and balancing my skin tone/color, as claimed. What made me a subscriber, however, is having experienced this product effectively soothe and calm my face at a time when it was in a hyper-sensitive state from exfoliating. This, in combination with moisturizers, accelerated the recovery process. Though I don’t doubt the other benefits it claims, the above became the absolute confirmation that “it works and it works for me.” Note: the product came clear, and is stored inside a drawer when not in use to further slow the rate of inevitable oxidation. After 2 months, it’s developed only a very slight tinge, which I would consider reasonable.
