Maybelline New York Color Sensational Color Elixir Lip Color, Amethyst Potion, 0.17 Fluid Ounce

I am leaving a 5 star review because I love this lipstick / gloss. I cannot tell you the last time I bought a lipstick by any brand other than Clinique, Estee Lauder, or Lancôme. It is really a beautiful color and saw this in email from Allure about editors favorite items and this was one of them and wanted to get it. I have to say that I am really impressed I guess I have been a makeup snob because this is now the second thing from Maybelline that I am absolutely in love with. This lipstick is a bit less pink than I thought it would be from the picture I saw, but I still love the color and will be great for me for the fall this year. I love how it feels on my lips, does not feel at all sticky and gummy on. Does it last long, well not real long but that is not the lipsticks fault, it is mine because I have a bad habit that sometimes I play with my lips when thinking about something and well you get the picture I am sure. The only negative that I have is that it is really glossy looking on me and at my young age (ok old age) it doesn't flatter me that well but I have learned how to fix that so that is isn't that glossy looking on me. Am I sorry that I got it, heck no I went out and bought another in a different color. it is on. In the picture it looked a bit more pink than what it actually is. It will be a nice fall color.

I love these Sensational Color Elixir's, and they remind me a lot of L'Oreal's Colour Rich Extraordinaire's so my reviews for both products might sound super similar. Finding a great lip product under $10 always excites me, and these Elixir's are definitely great. They are super easy to apply and glide on smoothly, they taste kind of like citrus, the colors are thick and vibrant and the gloss lasts an average amount of time on my lips (not long lasting but very comparable to most other glosses/balms on the market). So far I have this in Mandarin Rapture and the absolutely amazing shade Vision in Violet (a super wet, unique bright purple which I love). My only complaint with both these Elixir's and L'Oreal's Extraordinaire's is that they are SUPER glossy, so I just can't wear these every single day with different looks. However, when I'm in the mood for a wet shiny gloss these are pretty amazing, especially for such a low price!

I love the Maybelline Color Elixirs in general and they're quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite lip products. They are around $7 each and are often on discount at Rite Aid. The colors I currently have are; Breathtaking Apricot (gorgeous peached pink that borders on salmon color), Mandarin Rapture (bright, true orange), Caramel Infusion (neutral pinked nude), and Dashing Orchid (Plum color with pink glitter). The formula is absolutely divine. It's thick without being gloopy and SO smooth. It feels great on the lips and is not sticky at all. This product applies opaquely (with almost the intensity of a lipstick) and has a lovely shine (like a lipgloss). It also moisturizes nicely! Bonus! It has a very slight vanilla-like scent that is not overpowering and fades quickly. There was no taste on this gloss that I could detect. The pointed applicator is really handy in getting a precise application and the packaging itself is aesthetically pleasing. Overall, if I could give this product 10 stars, I would. It's moisturizing, intensely pigmented, and feels nice on the lips at a great, drugstore price. Win, win.

When I just want a light touch of color, tis looks great. I also use it when I don't like a shade, instead of taking it off, I use this as a top coat and the color turns out very nice!!!

When I received this gloss I noticed that the safety seal was broken and not even lined up. Then I opened the gloss the applicator tip seemed excessively bent as well. I asked for a replacement so hopefully that arrives sealed.

Extremely unhappy as the seals were broken on 2 of the lip glosses I ordered and the product is smeared on both the outer edges. I know when I see a used product. Colour looks as expected but i haven't even tried it on my hand....disappointed.

Very subtle glossy shade which adds a lovely tint to the lips

very pretty colour and I liked the feel of this gloss, it wasn't sticky like most are, felt nice and moisturising. One of the best Ive used so far. It lasted longer than others I've tried, but did wear off after a couple of hours. I would buy it again, it would be nice if there was more colours to choose from, maybe they will add to it at some point. Also, the shape of the applicator could be better, it's a funny shape and bends too easily. However, for the price of it, its good value for money and a nice lip gloss.
