Modern design techniques with triple shielding using a 6 layer PC Card gives added stability and freedom from oscillation and other nasty artefacts that other simple layout configurations might introduce. 80dB of onboard power supply filtering is provided for both Battery and External Power Supply operation. The result is a remarkably quiet and fast reacting device that responds very well to the players touch and retains the character of the original guitar even with lots of distortion going on. The harmonics generated are very musical and due to the lack of artefacts sound better today than 50 years ago. The guitar volume can be used very effectively to clean up the sound even when the Drive control is maxed out. This one and Page-1 classic are my favorites. This particular model is very interesting since it allows you to fine tune your exact sound you are looking for. It has jumper settings in the back that allow for 45 different variations. Most people don't mention it, however, it really helps to think of them as dials. There are three sets. Each has a few options to go from lowest to highest. So, thinking of them as dial knobs really simplifies the understanding of what they do.. as in Treble, Distortion and Sustain... not to mention you still have the easily-accessible controls for Volume and Drive (Fuzz Gain) on the outside. If you have this pedal you may not even need anything else. It replaces compressor, treble boost , overdrive and distortion / fuzz all in one. There are 3 Jumper pins that you can move to adjust the Bass, Treble and Sustain. I prefer the bassiest jumper settings, and then boost the high frequencies with a wah wah and the treble/presence on my amplifier settings. The Visage must have a compressor built inside it, because no matter what it tracks the notes beautifully.
