McCartney I / II / III[3 CD Box Set]

This release is the definitive "McCartney" Solo Box Set, comprising McCartney l, ll and lll released respectively in 1970, 1980 and 2020. Great music, great albums, great art all together in one great place will definitely make a perfect "McCartney" Christmas gift this holiday season.Paul's first solo album released around the same time as The Beatles Let It Be in 1970, produced two all time classics with Maybe I'm Amazed and Every Night, with Paul demonstrating his one man band abilities playing all instruments and voices. The rest of the songs are fun and worth coming back to now and then. McCartney ll, my personal favorite of Paul's three solo albums was released in 1980. After almost a decade In the spotlight with Wings, Paul again overdubbed every instrument and all the vocals for all of the album's very cool songs which incidentally were ingeniously produced with a magic all their own. Coming Up, Waterfalls, One Of These Days and Temporary Secretary are all classic McCartney songs with Coming Up in it's own right every bit as great as Maybe I'm Amazed.. McCartney lll doesn't hold as much interest for me personally as Paul's earlier solo efforts however, in all fairness it must be stated that the album is beautifully produced, critically acclaimed and topped the charts in both the U.S. and UK when it was released in December of 2020.. Also noteworthy is the fact that the album became Paul McCartney's first number one album in the UK since 1989's Flowers In The Dirt. Multiple Grammy nominations followed as well. I personally find the album a bit dry and not as sweet and melodic as McCartney's earlier efforts. The opening song, Long Tailed Winter Bird, is an interesting track and Find My Way is a standout. My preferences not withstanding, the album admittedly has some fine moments. With regards to Paul's recent music, I prefer Egypt Station well over McCartney lll yet, it scored a grand slam critically and commercially as noted above when released just a few years ago and it's a fun listen.The slipcase box set is beautiful and the additional bonus content is nice although obviously not remarkable. All in all though, a great collection of pure Paul and a wonderful gift for most occasions.I personally own the deluxe CD box set releases for Paul And Linda McCartney's Ram, Wings Over America, McCartney ll, Tug Of War and Flaming Pie and found it a nice change of pace to get McCartney's three solo albums all in one place with just the original songs, no additional fanfare in terms of bonus content (with the exception of the three limited edition photo prints and introduction by Paul) priced very reasonably at under thirty five dollars. The music is what it's all about anyway. I purchased this small box set recently along with The Beatles Get Back Blu-ray box set which added up to a nice addition to my already over bloated yet very cool Beatles collection.This box set is actually larger than I thought it would be and has a nice feel to it. Great music, great presentation all at a great price. This beautiful collection of Paul McCartney's three solo "McCartney" albums is presented with grace, class and style. I whole heartily recommend this small yet very cool box set as a gift for all Beatles fans, McCartney fans and for those who just love great music period. It also makes a very special musical gift for any occasion, especially for the Christmas season as noted above. Really nice!

My warning is ....My copy of McCartney II has 2 more tracks on it that are not listed on this version of McCartney II I just thought ai would put that out there.....but if you don't already have these CD this is a great set to pick up.

If you just entering into The Beatles or Paul McCartney this is a great LP Box Set. For myslef who just started collecting The Beatles LP just a few years ago this was a nice way to add to my collection.The songs and Albums speak to themselved super and great. One needs to take time to sit down and listen.

CD box set arrived, wasn’t sealed and was far from brand new condition. Prints were creased and marked and cd 3 sleeve in bad condition. Outer box looked worn. Such a shame. Why would this even be sent out in the first place. Now have to wait a month just to replace.

Well what can one say, record 2 four stars records one and three minus four stars, the one star is for the packaging lost stars because of paper record sleeves. Very disappointed. Thank goodness I can return.
