HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
WARNING - THIS LEECHES AMMONIA. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO START THE NITROGEN CYCLE IN YOUR TANK, YOUR FISH *WILL* DIE IF YOU ADD THEM IMMEDIATELY AFTER USING THIS SUBSTRATE AND STARTING YOUR TANK. IF YOU ARE AN INEXPERIENCED AQUARIST OR JUST A HOBBY FISH KEEPER THIS IS NOT THE SUBSTRATE FOR YOU. That all being said - i SWEAR by this substrate for growing all manner of aquatic plants. It's so rich in nutrients, I had almost zero dust kickup and the tank became crystal clear within a few days of filling it, and two months after the cycle had completed and established I was able to start adding fish. I currently have a 5 gallon fluval spec with two endlers' live bearers in it. I plan to add some neocaridina shrimp later on after the tank has fully established. I have also used this soil in my 50 gallon species-only tank of green tiger barbs, and all other freshwater tanks i've had in the past. if you know how to handle the nitrogen cycle and you know that you need to do water changes WEEKLY and not MONTHLY (with literally any tank that has any substrate in it - not just this one!) this is THE substrate to buy for beautiful planted tanks. HIGHLY recommend!!!

High quality substrate in a low tech planted tank
First time using this product in a 20 gallon aquarium heavily planted. So far, so good. Researched the product extensively and watched user videos on Youtube to help me decide if I wanted this at all. The tank cycled in two weeks and most of the plants survived the ordeal. Water quality after cycling is excellent with ph being settling in at 6.8-7 range. The plants seem to like it and it certainly is a natural looking substrate. The tank has only been set up 3 weeks at this point so I will repost if there are any changes as time goes by. Good price for the product.

great for CRS shrimp.
Great PH buffering substrate. This is highly recommended (if not a necessity!) for Crystal Red shrimp or other Taiwan Bee shrimp. Brought the PH of my distilled water down from 7 to 6.6 and i expect it to get to 6.4 within another week or so. This stuff is very good for plants as well, which is its primary use to most people. It will cloud your tank when you first put it in for about 24 hours or so and thats normal. One bag is about enough for a 15 gallon tank, i was able to get two 10 gallon tanks a good layer however i added a bit of black gravel to the tanks as well. If doing a layer of sand over this one bag would be adequate for a 20-25g tank, possibly larger.

Cloudy water remedy
At first I was afraid it wouldnt work and my plants wouldn’t grow. I have a 20 gallon and the bag was just barely enough, despite that after a week my plants let out there roots and rooted themselves into the soil. I had changed the filter and added drops to clear the cloudiness it didn’t help much, but what did was everyday or when I had time I would do like 50-40% water change and it started clearing the water quickly and you could see results right away. I have been adding leaf zone as well so that was helping the plants as well I’m happy with the results and will keep changing the water until the water clears completely.

My plants love it, but makes my water cloudy.
It's great for my plants, but does make my water a but cloudy, and sediment from it makes my tank look dirty sometimes. But it's worth it because my plants are doing great!

One of the best active substrates for plants and invertebrates
Love it. Is one of the best active/buffering substrates out there. I have it in SSS+ grade caridina tank, where stability and specific water parameters are essential. I use 100% RODI water that has virtually non-existent kH, which means the tank is susceptible to wild pH swings. The Amazonia buffers the pH and holds it steady around 6.4. It is a great substrate for plants, and will grow most of what you throw at it. I am currently growing marsilea minute, eleocharis mini (dwarf hairgrass), staurogyne repens, rotala rotundifolia, and bacopa caroliniana in the Amazonia with strong light, CO2 injection, and regular fert supplements. ********It clouds your water when you first use it, but DO NOT rinse ahead of time as you will break it down into a sludge/mud. Just deal with the temporary cloudiness and do some large water changes to clear up the tank in a couple of days.

Turned into mud
I bought this because of the premium brand but it turned out to be a big disappointment. After three months, the pellets got very soft and turned into mud.

... also heard from other people that this is the best soil, but my tank has been cloudy from ...
Have watched a ton of videos by ADA an also heard from other people that this is the best soil, but my tank has been cloudy from the second i filled it up. The directions on the bag say to not rinse the soil, yet the fine soil particulates are what are making the water cloudy. It has been three days so far and the "dust" has not settled.
