It took me 4 coats (1.5 bottles) applied over 3 days to dye the original fabric on this 45 year old Hickory Chair gooseneck chair. I thoroughly cleaned the old fabric. I moistened the fabric and applied the first coat. After drying 24 hours I applied the second- 4 th coat over 2 days. Once dried applied 3 coats of Scotch guard fabric sealer. There is no need to mask finish wood parts as the dye wipes off wood with a moist cloth. Pour dye in a container and apply as directed with a good quality nylon brush.
