Catwoman 1: Dangerous Liaisons
M**T
A schizophrenic collection, w/two entirely different looking & feeling stories: CW 39-42 vs CW 43-44
The storyline "Dangerous Liaisons" is actually Catwoman issues 39-40-41-42. 5 stars. Sadly, issues 43-44 suddenly change the art and the storyline. 3 stars. Combine them both and you get a weighted 4.33 which rounds to 4. Thankfully the "better" story line picks up in the next volume and essentially "concludes" in CW 50.Maybe many will like the sudden change in CW 43 with a road trip involving Harley Quinn. Roller derby and an assassin's chase. But this is just so jarring psychologically and story wise. And the ART (by Bengal) is so different, not what I like. This is essentially "throw away" material that has little impact on the "canon" or the overarching story. But CW 39-42 is fantastic. Gorgeous art (by Nico Leon) and compelling characters. Interesting people in interesting places doing interesting things. Who doesn't love the intrigue of organized crime, disloyalty, murderous ambition, and "forbidden love" tearing one family apart as other crime families have their own issues and needs. All of which intersects with Catwoman! Just do NOT expect any Batman or appearances from anyone else in the Bat Family. This is all about Catwoman.

Amazing book, great writing and beautiful artwork.
Another great read, DC Comics is constantly delivering. Couldn't stop reading, finished in about an hour.
