Carbohydrates in candy? This is candy after all, but not as bad as most.  it is only 34% simple sugar or 10g of sugar per 30 gram serving.  Plus another 45% complex sugars (like starch and sorbitol).  so you are looking at 80% carbs! negligeable protein and about 5% fat, rest is natural licorice extract and water. you still have few minerals (sodium and potassium)  nothing really good for you here except whatever benefits you think you would get from the licorice root extract (5%) .  For thousands of years people used licorice root as nutritional supplement, so you may get some questionable benefits from the extract

The taste is clearly different, but it tastes very good! This one is more sugary and gelatinous, I think. It also has a different mouth feel. The coating is more waxy/shiny and it translates to the mouthfeel and in the taste itself. It is good though. I suppose it like like comparing coca-cola and Pepsi. Objectively both good products, though one may have an overall preference.

I kept this licorice for over six months and still good. it will get sticky if kept in a overly warm area.  no real expiration date. if you like black licorice you won't have to worry about expiration. just eat it or don't buy that much.
