Tight, but fun little sopranissimo
I wanted to pick up a small ukulele for traveling and to experiment with low G's on a short scale uke (just to see if it can be done) and this 18" travel sopranissimo fit the bill. It's actually 18" overall, but still has an 11" scale length making it a sopranissimo. The 18" makes it very hard to squeeze into a sopranissimo case (like my Ohana 17" that I really like) and it felt like the case may bend the wooden neck, so I bought a new Ohana Sopranino (19") case for it. The uke came bare bones - no case, tuner, spare strings, capos, etc.. so it's relatively a tad more expensive than other "starter packages" with all the extras, but it's a better price coming without them, which is great if you don't need all of that. It did come with 2 strap buttons pre-installed which was a nice addition.Playability: The action was pretty good right out of the box. It has a fair width nut with good string spacing for my average sized hands, but still plays "tight" because the frets are very close together. It feels even tighter because the tuning machines are very close to the nut, so I bump the knobs while playing close to the nut, occasionally. The A string is very close to the edge of the fret board, too, so I've fallen off a couple times doing pull-offs. It didn't sound too great with the stock aquilas in the GCEA tuning so I moved it up to the standard A,D,F#,B which improved the sound a lot. It was still a bit plasticky-resonant so I changed the strings to an aquila red low G (as a low A), Thomastic Infield CF27 (as the D), and Worth Brown E & A strings (as the F# & B). Sounds way better (pretty good for the size - no it won't compete with a concert or soprano but you can't zip one of them up in a backpack either). It still needs a little fiddling with the Low A to perk that up a little bit. With the extra $25 in strings it now sounds better than my Enya brand sopranissimo uke, so I'm happy with my purchase.I would buy this model again, because it does have a good sound for it's exceptionally portable size.Hope this helps. Happy uking!

Usually don't leave reviews but....
I've been searching for a supranimo for ages and I finally found this one. Exactly as described and better. It's absolutely adorable. With the slightest movement of my hand I can reach up and down the fret board. I truly recommend this for any beginners or any pros who'd love to travel and bring their music with them.

Great quality!
Hard to believe this was only $85. Fit, finish and playability are excellent. I suggest getting one now before the price goes up, which it will do when people find out what a deal this is! Oh, yeah, and it looks great, too.

This ukulele is very attractive! Great price!
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this adorable little ukulele because I collect and play ukulele and don't have many sopranos. I prefer to play tenor, and sometimes concert size ukuleles.Asthetics/looks: This soprano has a lovely vintage style look to it. The details are quite striking, yet it is also a very simple design. They have done very well to bring detail where you would typically see with more expensive ukuleles. The headstock is very pretty with it's curveture at the top, gorgeous silver tone tuning gears with glass buttons on the back to see the brass gear inside is a nice detail. The tuning pegs are colored which I always love but rsrely see. I think Kmise did well here, taking the opportunity to out a jewel on the instrument in a sense with the tuning pegs. They are a pinkish, more purplish copper color mix and quite sweet. The fretboard at the bottom where it meets the body also has a lovely curvy shape and is nicely done. The body edges have no binding but on this one, it adds to it's simplistic beauty. The body has a traditional shape which all together presents a throwback to ukuleles of the 1950's. They put a beautiful rope detail around the tradirional round soundhole and it too lends to it's overall vintage look and nod to this classic style. The color of the wood laminate wood grain is very nice, impeccably clean in it's outer craftsmenship. They used D'Addario strings which is a nice upgrade and attention to player interest for quality, and they are flourocarbon so they have a player friendly feel and a clean appearance.Quality: Overall, this is a fantastic beginner ukulele. The volume is GREAT for such a sweet soprano. The sustain is pretty good too. It rings out pleasantly. I have many ukukeles and I am very happy to have this one in my wide ranging collection of sizes, brands, and qualities. Here are areas I think could be improved... I have played her for several days now. Two seperate tuning gears were loose at the nut back to back, creating a rattle that if I did not know about already as a player, I'd have been worried this was a more serious issue with my ukulele. With a little tightening, this was reaolved but it should not have maybe come out of QC that way if this is marketed to new players who would not know what to do with this. I also think the saddle and bridge could be sanded up a bit cleaner. Apart from that, the overall quality is very good on this and I highly recommend this not only for casual or new players but for ukulele collectors and enthusiasts as she is a doll! Also, the action is terrific! Very comfortable and not common to be as low on an economy priced ukulele. They are almost always very high. This is a play right out of the box uke. I super appreciate this.Sound: Again, this has grear volume and clarity, good sustain. The intonation could be improved but once the strings settle more, this issue may also improve a bit.Additional: This ukulele comes with everything and more that a new player would need to get started. I was very impressed with the booklet that covers so many important aspects of getting started as a new player. It's fantastic actually! It also comes with a chord chart for visual reference on basic chords, which is great, a tuner, a strap (uncommon for a soprano to come with strap buttons but this does!), and many other great goodies.I recommend this ukulele and find it very well priced and fair for any new beginner.

Used, but not like new
Was advertised as like new condition, so I thought I would save a couple of dollars. I really like the ukulele and how well it is made. The tone is good, tunes easily and simple chords sound very good--much better than my abilities. I am excited to play this instrument and pass from the beginner to intermediate stage. The instrument will still be adequate as my abilities progress. However, the condition was not what I expected. It appears to have been heavily used and picked with a rigid pick and not strummed with a finger. Both sides of the sound hole are defaced and heavily worn. The back of the ukulele also appears worn as if the previous user was rubbing the instrument against a belt or shirt buttons. The beautiful tiger flame pattern of the okoume wood is obscured.I am disappointed that I went cheap and did not purchase the same ukulele new. I can find no other problems with my examination of the instrument and I am sure that after acceptance of its used condition, I will be quite pleased with it. I would upload a picture showing the defacement, but am not proficient enough to do so.

Great sounding, well made instrument
I make ukuleles as a hobby and belong to 3 ukulele playing groups so I get to see a lot of different ukes. This Kmise laminated mahogany soprano ukulele is one that I would definitely recommend. It is well made and has a wooden rosette and bound fretboard, features not often found on inexpensive ukes. It has an open pore satin finish which on my instrument is flawless. It is loud and has a pleasant tone, again much better than to be expected. The action is exactly as it should be and there are no sharp frets. It has a compensated bone saddle so it plays in tune all the way up the fretboard. This means it’s easy to play and a beginner should be able to progress quickly. The lightly padded case is better than that provided on most similar priced ukes. The tuner works fine, there are already 2 strap buttons attached and a strap is provided. There’s also a small playing guide which will help in getting started. The instrument sounds great with the strings fitted (and there’s a spare set) so there’s no need to rush out to buy alternative strings. (Please note all new strings stretch and it will take 2 or 3 days before the strings will stay in tune).I think anyone looking for a first instrument for a child or an adult considering learning to play the ukulele should buy this kit. I don’t see how they could be disappointed.

Sehr gute Ukulele, besonders für Anfänger
The media could not be loaded.

Much higher quality than price indicates - Highly Recommended A++
The media could not be loaded. This is a review of the Kmise mahogany beginner ukulele set. I purchased this as my only other soprano is a much lower quality laminate from another manufacturer which i bought on Amazon (and did not get favourable review) and performs poorly so I wanted something to take out and about and enjoy. This is more than a welcome replacement, this has actually got me loving the soprano body again from many months away playing on concert/tenors.In the kit -I got a generic branded tuner, spare strings (unlabelled manufacturer but Aquila style nylons), padded gig bag and gig strap, fret sandpaper, chord diagram and starter guide. None of those bits are standouts or amazing, but I love how this is set up for a beginner - it is everything you need, even if you don't think you need it. Considering most other manufacturers barely supply a gig bag for Ukulele's that are £100-£300, and this is very much welcome. The ukulele -Pros -This is as described - a solid mahogany body, really nice touches like the sealed gear tuners, very nice feel with a wider than expected fretboard allowing me to play through chords with ease given my pudgy fingers. It has real bone nut and saddle, and some very nice feeling thinner nylon strings (almost like D'darrio Titaniums to feel). I cannot fault it for how it looks. It also holds tunings really well - in fact better than another of mine that cost triple the amount! Tuned on day one, pretty much the same there after - testament to those closed geared tuners.Cons -Free tuner is generic and you might be better off with a better one, and being ULTRA picky also it had a couple of marks on the fret metal itself around frets 11-13 presumably where strings compressed onto the fret or from manufacture. The logo is a screen print but might be nicer as a laser etch branding, and the faux abalone rosette markings are screen printed too but otherwise the item is blemish free - no damage at all. I also note it is not a gloss finish, but has a light lacquer so bear that in mind - play with clean hands and wipe any grease, skin oils or such away to keep it protected, or you will have the odd mark from playing. Those are all areas that I can live with for this price point and the only indication this is not a £150 model.Sound quality -The ukulele has a real bright quality springy sound with a surprisingly good bass undertone which comes from the sound hole. This projects really well with good intonation and the resonance is certainly up there with my concert sized solid wood Ukuleles, and not at all cheap and twangy. In terms of quality, it sounds as good as something that costs double the price. Sure, if you have £300 soprano's (and more skill at playing than me) then this *may* sound less impressive but Ive included a video of the sound quality because I actually think it sounds like it should be double or triple the price. It just feels so bouncy and nice to play, it is just so fun!Overall -Simply unbelievable that for around £40-50 you can get a solid wood option that has as many features as this - from looking, I cannot think of anyone else making something like that, let alone with these features. I mean this is literally as well made as a £100 option from well known brands like Kala, but at a price where most are laminates/part laminates with thick poor quality strings or half the features (ABS instead of bone for example). I mean most of the Ukulele's in the world are made in the Far East anyway, so it is amazing to see a manufacturer who cares about quality (as in using best features like the closed gear tuners) as much as this to ensure it sounds as good as it can for the price they offer it at. Thus, for me as a result, it is not a cheap toy, but a seriously nice instrument. As a beginner, there are millions of options, but for anyone seriously starting this is just perfect and I'd strongly suggest this is a good place to start and will make sure you get a lot of use before you need to start treatment for your inevitable UAS (Ukulele Acquisition Syndrome). For that matter, it also suits anyone like me who wants a cheap playable addition but have features of a very high quality Ukulele as a *cough cough* 6th 'extra' to compliment an already strong collection (aka UAS!) this is just hands down high quality for a great price. I am extremely happy with my purchase as I am sure you will be.

Great quality worth the money
I'm a total beginner, so take my review from a beginner perspective. I wanted a ukulele for my 6 year old who expressed a desire to learn to play. But my research for many of the cheap options suggested it wasn't worth buying a very cheap one. This one had reasonable reviews, even by experienced players. So after much deliberation I decided to pay a little extra and get this one. It came with the bag, the tuner, the hook and a strap.. I've played the violin, piano, flute and guitar and this looks pretty well made. The neck is smooth, the wood looks good quality, the back is properly made, no sharp bits or badly glued bits. It sounds good. But then again I've never played a ukulele before. In order to teach my son, I've been learning and I love it. A lovely rich but that light fun sound you get with a ukulele. I'm very happy with it and I think it will last him (and me) a long time.

high quality finishes, perfect for beginners like my wife
The media could not be loaded. I recently got my wife a soprano ukulele and she loves it! The one we purchased came with a tuner that helps keep the sound in tune while you're playing your favourite songs. It also came with a belt, extra strings, a song book, and a bag to put everything in.The instrument is lightweight and is beautifully designed with a matte finish and it has a quality build. The strings are durable and they really add to the overall bright, rich tone of the ukulele. It comes with a easy to hold body shape and has a small fret board which is nicely finished. It's perfect for beginners like my wife and it's highly portable which means she can carry it to places and play wherever she goes. We're planning to go camping with it and have fun with it with our kids. She absolutely loves it and I always see her learning new songs online and playing her ukulele. I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking to pick up an instrument that's easy and fun to learn and play without breaking the bank.
