Ignition button does not work
The igniter does not work, I have to manually light it with a match. Disappointed. Even after multiple attempt following the instructions.

Really high-quality torch good for searing steaks or fire roasting veggies.
Quality tends to show, and this is a great quality cooking torch. 3 in 1 control ignites and controls the intensity and size of the flame. I could see the ignition spark between two wires before I put on the Propane bottle. It lights easily and the far end knob that press to ignite with controls the gas. I seared some steaks and then the good test. Festival sweet corn, still in season, I used a trick of the rib fest to instead of butter use mayo to season the corn. It sticks and doesn't melt and fall off like butter, and it really does well when fire roasting the corn surface. I did it outside on my sportsman small cast iron grill. I had partially steam cooked the corn, but now I rotated the ears as I continued fire roasting the surface. In the end I took a slicing knife and cut off the kernels. I wish my teeth were better and I could eat it off the cob, but it was fine eating the roasted corn this way.Only recently I used this to sear a large piece of roast beef for my pot roast, and while I was at it, I seared the baby carrots as well something about the flavor of roasted veggies is so good. Searing a pot roast is a good thing since you don't have to splatter yourself using oil in a pan and flipping around the meat. Plus, it's easier to get all the hard-to-reach edges seared, so you get a more even cook. A lot of recipes call for a good sear or top browning of the food. I like the way it can caramelize brown sugar for use with Creme Brulee. I make it from a mix and blend over low heat for several minutes with half and half as the cream part. Then the mix comes with special packets of sugar that you normally use with a broiler but work better with a cooking torch like this. Yum. Recommended.

Wow!
My husband and I are both cooks. He's been a butcher for more than 30 years and I've been a baker for more than 20. We use a torch for many different dishes and the one we have is very low. This one works like a salamander! It's really easy to hold and light and burning off a meringue takes no time at all. It adjusts nicely so you can go full blast or more gently depending on the dish you're making. If you do a lot of cooking at home that requires a salamander or torch, I'd recommend this. It's impressive in size and function! Well worth it!

Impressive piece of kitchen equipment
When I say this torch is impressive; I actually mean a little intimidating. I have a smaller torch for using in the kitchen. I use it to do crème brûlée, and putting a little browning on things topped with marshmallows and meringue. First, I don’t feel comfortable using this inside the house. Second, this makes my little torch look like a companion piece to a child’s easy bake oven. This thing is a blow torch. I will use this for searing meat outside on my grill, for safety reasons. I got this mainly to use for braising, Sous vide, and putting a quick sear on items going on the grill. This definitely fulfills that purpose. Personally, I wouldn’t attempt to do crème brûlée with this simply because I would be afraid to crack my crockery with the wide swath of heat and flame this gives off. But, for what I want it for; it definitely fits my needs.

Don't stand in front of this bad boy
If one wanted to complain, this torch doesn't put out a screaming yellow flame like the picture. Rather it is a clear wave of super hot heat. The way I understand it is if you see yellow, it's not burning efficiently and the oxygen burning ratio is messed up. This clear blast of energized gas really does the trick in putting out the heat. I'll use this as a fire starter for bonfires or the home fireplace. Probably wouldn't be the best tool for a Creme Burlee sugar topping... "Cooking Torch?" Really? (Okay, probably great for searing those grey, lifeless steaks that come out of a sous vide, putting a char on chicken skin, etc. I'll give them that.)
