This knife is not spring assisted, but it locks up well when I flip it, and the liner lock mechanism holds everything securely; no vertical or horizontal blade wobble. All the screws are flush with the handle material. The blade fits into your pocket in a "tip up" position, and is not adjustable to a "tip down" carry option. The handle materials are solid and feel good in the hand; G10 or something similar. There are no factory marks, nicks, or scuffs on this knife; looks very clean. The detent is a little on the stiff side and the edges are not melded like a higher priced ZT.. But neither are close to a deal breaker at all. Plus those are the only two minor things that are off on it over all. Considering it has a D2 blade that takes a wicked sharp edge easily plus good G10 handle and even phosphorous bronze bushing. It would be hard to find a better made knife for the money I think. I know knives well as I have been collecting almost 50 yrs now. I use a allen wrench works fine. **Q: Is this spring assisted?** A: It's not a spring assist, the blade is retained in the handle until you so apply enough pressure to overcome the retention, then the blade snaps out and into work mode **Q: Does Eafengrow Moon Tactical operates on ball bearings?** A: They have ball bearings and Teflon washers. My Moon knife had some issues, I put some Kroil oil on the bearings and it was lightning quick! Eafengrow has a good design and is super cheap because they make them quickly. They are good for the price and if it's a turd, their customer service will send you a new knife. I had a Moon for over 2 years and I like it. The D2 hold an edge and it's a good design. I am knife collector, first and second I didn't own a clone or a copy of and of my customs, or midtechs, that come from big name makers or lines, like ZT or MicroTech..etc...until now.. 3rd, I never write review feedback postings. I made an exception in the case of the Eafengrow knife line. I thought for the price I would buy a few and see what the knives were like. The design and quality represented in the knives, impressed me so much I had to share it with others. If this knife had a big name maker laser logoed on the blade, and a, made in America...USA..on it, Sold by one of the big name knife dealers. It would cost $295-$395 US. as a midtech. The grinds are emacultae A+..and the machining of the G10 is evenly machined with 3d profiling to execute chamfers and fillets. A+ The blade grinds are 3d cnc ground THE BEST I'VE SEEN, even compared to known custom makers who have built midtechs with blades that are machined ground, with a much higher price$$$. This Eafengrow knives that I have received are absolutely stunning and to think that the knife delivered is $27.00 blows my mind!!!!! Really!!! Yes there are a few minor things that could be executed with a bit more detail, but on theses knives it would be a bit hyper-critical. One of the Eafengrow knives I recently purchased is so good you would think it was made by the original knife maker.
