You can also turn on function like person detection, Line crossed detection, camera tampering, you can also turn on a alarm which is great if you see someone on your property. The night vision is great (tip, if you are using the camera pointing out of a window turn off the night mode and then the camera will be able to see out of the glass) I like the LED functioning lights so you and others know that the camera is working. Even though the camera is not the smallest people do not notice it, so its good that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb on your property. Another tip - purchase a good quality Micro SD card as the cheap ones can sometimes cause problems with the camera unable to record. The Tapo app is so easy to use which is a big sell to me as I want to be able to see quickly what is going on outside. Ill defiantly be buying more Tapo cameras in the future.

**Q: Can this be connected to mains junction box rather than a mains socket? Thanks**
A: No. It comes with a moulded adapter that includes the 3 pins of a plug. 
The output of the adapter is 9 volts DC and 0.6A. 

So I’m guessing you might have the same problem I had, not having a socket near to where you want to put the camera. 

I got around this by extending the DC lead, (7 meters of Halfords car speaker wire at about £4.50) 

The cable length gives a drop of about 0.15 volts, so nothing to worry about. 
I also made sure the join would be indoors, soldered the joins (offset) and used heat shrink on the individual wires and then over the complete join. 
Took about 10 minutes.

**Q: Is the wire thin enough to go through the side of a window? Or does the wire need drilling through the external wall?**
A: Yes, the black cable is thin enough to let my double glazed window closed tightly.

**Q: Can you extend the power cable**
A: Yes you can buy extension cable to your length preference.

**Q: Can it work on samsung tablet or in a tv**
A: I use is it on my Samsung smartphone on WiFi or live data.
I can not see why a laptop or ipad wouldn't work

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing 1-year update: Long storage & accurate tracking!

I have been using the Tapo C510W for more than a year now, and it is perfect for outdoor security. The 2K video clarity is excellent, and it is highly accurate at tracking movement even in absolute darkness. One massive plus is the local storage efficiency; by setting it to record only when movement is detected, I can easily store about 3 months of data on a single 128GB memory card, completely avoiding monthly subscription fees. The only slight issue I’ve noticed with the smart tracking is a small blind spot: if someone passes directly underneath the camera, the tracking cuts out and doesn't carry on following them. However, as long as the movement is a little bit away from the camera, the tracking works perfectly and smoothly. Overall, after a full year in the elements, it’s a brilliant, reliable camera!
