Very good laptop for the price
This is by no means a business-class machine as it is advertised, but it is of decent quality and performs well. I'm writing this review because I bought this laptop blind and hope it may help somebody else. There were no reviews either on Amazon or elsewhere on the internet when I purchased.I bought this laptop when it was offered at a steep discount. I paid £340. At that price I find this laptop to be a very good deal, but I suspect it was mispriced as it has now risen to £440 about a week later. The laptop has decent build quality. The body is plastic, and a slightly cheaper plastic than I would expect for a business-class machine. That said, it feels sturdy enough and the soft touch finish on the outside is grippy. They keyboard is fine, and no more than that. It types well and the keys have enough travel for you to know that you've pressed them. I don't like the full-size arrow keys however, or that the power button is built into the keyboard itself. The trackpad is great and the built in fingerprint scanner works well for my purposes. The screen, despite being a TN panel, is clear and bright enough for use indoors. I like it, it has a matte finish and images look clear. The speakers are very poor and I'd struggle to recommend this laptop for media consumption as a result. The laptop specifications are good. It performs well for my purposes (mostly study) and doesn't struggle with many PDF files or website tabs open at once. I've not had any issues with performance in my short time owning this laptop. I updated to Windows 11 after initial setup without any problems. The important information I think is missed in the product listing for this laptop is the upgrade options. The Amazon listing suggests that the RAM can't be upgraded and offers no mention of hard drive upgradability. HWInfo suggests that this is a custom motherboard which has no information available online. The laptop comes with an m.2 Netac 256GB SSD. I opened the case to have a look and there is no bay to add a 2.5" drive to, however there is another m.2 bay which is accessible via a small panel on the underside of the laptop itself. That's a nice touch and increases storage options, with an easy route to upgrade. The laptop has 8GB RAM soldered to the motherboard. The listing suggested that it only supports single channel memory, however on investigation I have found an empty SODIMM slot on the motherboard. So I have no doubt that the machine can be upgraded to 16GB without issues. At the price I paid, including an additional RAM module I'd have paid around £375 for an i5 machine with 16GB memory. That's not bad at all.I/O is fine - there are 2 USB3 ports (one on each side) in addition to a USB-C and an HDMI port. The laptop came with a 45W USB-C charger which performs well enough but has a short cable. There is a DC charging port on the left side so the inclusion of the USB-C charger is confusing to me, although it works. One minor performance issue - I've found that the built in WiFi card doesn't perform particularly well over longer periods. Initially everything is fine, however I found that the connection drops relatively frequently which is frustrating. I bought a TP-Link USB WiFi adapter which has solved this problem and actually achieves faster speeds (75mb compared to the 60mb or so from the internal card). There's no ethernet port either but I have used a USB3 hub with one built in and that works too.Anyway, overall I would recommend this laptop. I think I got a good deal at the price I paid. I wouldn't have taken the plunge at £440 as it is now, but perhaps would have if there were reviews available.

Cheap as chips for the i5
Added a 1tb ssd and another 8gb ram on way this is a steal at its £260 price yeah the Wi-Fi is spotty buy a little dongle at this price and job done.It looks at feels great it’s 100% a £500+ LaptopUpdate - I've upgraded the RAM now 16gb and added 1TB m.2 main SSD it runs like a dream ...... BUT yes i can confirm its Wi-Fi is very very poor even maybe to the point of unusable fixed with £9 dongle but for some that is am issue .... PLUS the headphone jack has no developed an issues where only the left channel works and its hardware related which is on the edge of me returning so I've dropped a star maybe GEO have a solution! I have spoken to GEO over RAM compatibility and got a very quick response so that was a big 👍

Buy from well known brands!
GEO Computers Infinity GeoBook 540 Windows 10 Professional Laptop 14-inch FHD Intel Core i5 8GB RAM 256GB SSD bought new from Amazon January 2022 for £340.47.It is not too heavy and quick to load.Unfortunately the wifi connection drops out about once a day. The fan outlet is on the underside and this means using the laptop on a hard surface to ensure a gap for cooling. The touchpad cursor went haywire on the screen and was not controllable, so I tried System Restore but to no avail. After, the laptop would not start so I could not get into the Restore Partition. I had to download a Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft and re-install, loosing the original Restore Partition. The cursor is working again, but for how long? Will change the driver if problem persists. The GEO website is hopeless where support is needed.

Fast, good quality build
I'd bought a similarly priced laptop from Asus my son for Christmas. It had trouble even booting up... it was so painfully slow.So I returned it and got this one instead. It's like night and day. Same cost, completely different experience. This is fast, and for the cost, an absolute bargain. Great quality case, it's not flimsy in any way and the hinge is robust too. Plus the typing experience and screen are both excellent. It even runs games pretty well (considering it's a budget PC).I liked it so much, I bought 2 more - one for my daughter and one for my mother.
