This book is a great introduction to the paleo diet. It covers everything you will need to know to get started. The author begins by giving you a brief history of the diet, and talks about the original founder. Then he describes what the diet actually entails, and the variations of the diet that you can choose from, depending on your desired outcome and your personal lifestyle. In the getting started section, there are also options on how you will be following the diet. Whether you are going to follow loosely, or be very strict about it, you can make the paleo diet work for you. You will also learn about which foods to include, and those that you will want to avoid. I like that there is a chapter on reducing some of the side effects of the paleolithic diet, such as cravings and ketogenic breath. At the end of the book, there are many nice recipes to choose from that fit within the diet. Overall, I'm glad I downloaded this book. It taught me a lot about the paleo diet.

Big problems but interesting recipes
This has some interesting-looking recipes (the reason for four stars instead of 2 or 3), but boy! Does this need an editor! Not only is it unorganized and incomplete in explanations, but the language itself often sounds like you're reading instructions for something made in China. The author was born in Russia to Canadian parents and moved to Canada when he was 11, so I don't understand the language problem.The table of contents is carefully laid out with page numbers noted... but the book has no page numbers! The last part of the book has ENORMOUS sans serif type, as opposed to the much smaller serif font used elsewhere. Forget consistency in page layout.The book needed more info on how this diet operates on a day-to-day basis, even if it only offered a sample week's menu. I'd advise the author to get an editor, rewrite as needed, add info as needed, and try this again.

Good introduction
Note: See your doctor before starting this or any other diet program.When I first heard about Paleo diets, I thought it was just about eating meat all the time. I saw reports on TV of people eating stacks of meat, and not much else. This book clarifies that. It's not just about meat. It's about eating as much natural food as possible. I was surprised that some versions don't allow dairy products or eggs. Those are natural. The recipes looked interesting. I haven't tried any, but they looked good. All in all, a good book.

There's definately better books on Paleo out there
I seldom write reviews, but this book is not worth the price. If I hadn't bent the cover, I'd have sent it back. Google the subject and you get more information. There's definately better books on Paleo out there.The author probably did lose weight on this, but there is little real information on why you should do this. He states in the book he isn't a professional and cites no studies or other sources other than his opinion. Just a disappointment

Good Buy !!!!!!
The Paleo Diet was a fascinating guide to eating the incredibly healthy diet of our cave-dwelling ancestors. This is a quick read to get the reasons to consider what the Paleo diet is about. very nice book. easy to understand and has a good break down of the basics.

Page numbers???
So, the book looks great. It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be... Fine... But, it's the only book I've ever gotten that doesn't have freaking page numbers on it. It has a table of contents with page numbers and there's no damn page numbers in the damn book. Can we not afford to put page numbers of the printing press? Seriously, page numbers, people. Is that too much to ask?
