AC Repair
Replacing capacitor saved me a bundle on my AC unit. Installed easily and worked the first time.

Great product
The right part, great product. Will buy same brand for my second AC.

Working great so far! Will update longevity.
Had my capacitor blow early into the cooling season this year on June 1st. Ordered and installed this one a few days later and it's worked like a champ.Didn't miss a beat even through the 2021 Pacific Northwest heatwave, reaching 116F here which is unheard of. My poor AC literally ran nearly three days straight and thankfully no issues with this capacitor.I ordered this specific one because I like the idea of the hard-start kit protection. I do have a hard-start kit installed so seemed like a no-brainer to ensure safety of the compressor.

AmRad 35+5.0MFD USA2227, but it is not the one in the picture with 3 terminals, this has 4.
I gave this a 4 mainly because it is not the one in the picture with 3 terminals, I received 2 caps that had 4 terminals. The orange CPT (Compressor Protector Terminal) is used with a hard start kit.Didn't need that version or model, but if these last the same length of time as the 3 terminal ones, I guess that just fine. In the future if the compressor needed a hard start kit, this cap would already be in place for that.I used one already that fit perfectly like the old one (Comp was 35.5mfd & Fan was 5.2mfd) on a 240V hotel thought the wall version ac unit. The fan ran fine, but compressor wouldn't start, I bypassed the relay and when plugged back in, I heard I slight hum, then nothing. I added a single 35mfd cap to make it run until I got these in. If one side of a duel run capacitor is bad, the other probably won't last long, so replace the whole thing and have some peace of mind. The only issue I might have run into is the number of wire connectors for the common with that tall black plastic surrounding it (in pic. 7). If you have 4 normal connectors or less, you'll be fine. I had 5 wires, 1 wire connector had a piggyback terminal with another wire, but easy fix, turn it the opposite way so the extra blade one sits in the middle of that 4 blade post connector. The one I have left is in the pictures has another place to go. The 5mfd for fan is right on the money, but I kinda don't like the fact that the comp. side measured 34.6mfd (I know they have +10% & -5% tolerances), but over time that will drop and if it goes below 33.25, that might start to affect the performance of the compressor.I've had the same capacitors in a Trane ac central heat-pump system for 25 years. Of course in 1995 they made things real good back then, heck had a 800cca Motorcraft battery in a new SUV that lasted 10 YEARS, the replacement (same brand) didn't even go 1 year.To sum it up, these were the cheapest of the best I could fine. Made in U.S.A. Also went ahead and gave these 5 star for longevity.I've used a few single run AmRad oval ones to replace ge genteq capacitors on squirrel cage fans in central ac units. You could spin them and they would keep going, but as soon as the power shut off and restarted, they would sit still and hum. And those have run almost 2 years with no issues with this brand.
