An Immersing Flow of Water in an Attractive Package
I am not sure I would pay 300 + dollars for this item but I got a used like new shower head for $90. If it was used it didn't look it to me. I would bet it wasn't used at all or if it was only for a minutes The packaging was a bit damaged but it was all there all there including the Teflon tape which hadn't been used. I was considering a Hammerhead model, most probably the non-adjustable head and 6 foot hose. I was a bit concerned with the coverage of the Hammerhead spray. I checked out the Speakman S-2252 and was considering that before I ran across the S-2251 which has a wider pattern of water distribution than the 2252 and I am pleased I did. It works perfectly. I considered removing the 1st black water restrictor (the one with the screen) but I have pretty good water pressure so decided to not do that. I have all the water I care about coming through without removing it. I can increase the flow buy turning the water up if I choose. One point to consider is it is extremely difficult to get the angle of the shower adjusted before it is installed but once it is attached to the shower stem you can move it up or down as you would expect. It will definitely stay in place once you have it set where you want. It can also be a bit tricky to get the face plate lined so you aren't looking at it without being at a weird angle because the pivot of the head angle is so difficult to achieve. So once I screwed the whole shower head onto the stem, the writing was a bit askance. I turned it so the name was centered which meant I loosened it a bit. It didn't leak and would have been fine there probably then I used a wrench to tighten the connection while holding the shower head still. I was concerned about scratching the chrome but managed to do that with no damage. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

You’re probably just like me – desperate to get a nice fulfilling powerful shower. You found it!
If you're like me, you reviewed several different brands and researched the different ways that showerheads boost shower pressure – using air, compression or whatever. You can stop your research now and just buy this showerhead. It turned our paltry dribbling shower into a heavenly showering revitalizing experience. This shower head is so good that when I went to Home Depot days after and saw someone looking at showerheads, I went over to recommend this one – I just couldn’t help myself. A couple things to quickly note – we have two bathrooms in our apartment and I replaced one with this shower head and one with the S-2252 model with 6 outputs and only 2.0 gallons per second. I also tested both with and without the water restrictor removed (pretty straightforward process to remove the restrictor and you can also find how-to’s on YouTube). You should know that once the water restrictor is removed, it’s gone for good so it’s worth testing without removing in case removing it would be overkill for your liking. The S-2252 increased the water pressure a good amount with the restrictor still in, but it performed like a champ once the restrictor was removed. Without the restrictor, the S-2252 is better than the S-2251 (this model) with the restrictor still in. Once you remove the restrictor from this model, it outperforms the S-2252 due to coverage of the 8 outputs. Luckily, our small children use the second bathroom so the lesser coverage is not an issue for them and the S-2252 is half the cost. I did not find that the 2.5 gallons per minute provided much more pressure than the 2 gallons per minute but I guess it would have more of an impact on the water drop setting where it’s less pressure but more water for rinsing out hair. The one caveat I have for my “buy now” rating is that the shower head is not that flexible. It can flex enough for our needs and for the 45 degree angle pipe from which our showerhead connects, but if you need something that can point to all areas of your shower or the pipe comes out in a way where you need the showerhead to point straight down, there’s a chance this isn’t a good fit. Other than that, “buy now”.

Outstanding Shower Head
I normally would NOT spend big money on a shower head, but absolutely glad I did. It’s the best shower head I have ever purchased. It’s a well built/heavy brass bodied unit with outstanding powerful flow and is super easy to change settings. After spending $50-60 a pop on many other brands and styles, I wish I would have discovered the Speakman S-2251 sooner.

Pleasantly Surprised
I must admit, I originally bought this as a joke with the full intention of returning it. I recently got a $100 Amazon gift card and wanted to take the opportunity to buy something crazy. I previously had a $50 multifunction shower head that I spent an hour choosing at Home Depot, so I thought I was already an extravagant shower-er if there's such a thing. The construction of the unit feels very solid. It is a solid two pound chunk metal, and makes my old shower head feel like a pathetic fisher price toy. Turning it on, I am impressed with the water pressure. Compared to my previous 2.5gpm shower head, this Speakman just feels like it is spraying so much more water. The claims of "Infinite" variability are a bit exaggerated, and even the dialed-back claim of 3 modes is a bit of a hyperbole. In reality, there's a "needles of water" mode and a "relaxing spray" mode. The so called "flood" mode feels like showering with a garden hose -- I'm not quite sure what to do with the splotchy splashes of unregulated water flow. With that said, the "infinite" variability does let you fine tune the exact amount of sharpness or flood-ness you want at the two useful modes. Coming to think of it, my old shower head had 5 modes, and several of them were close to what I wanted but either too sparse or too weak. Another difference worth noting is that each of the 8 jets output 8 separate streams of water in all directions, and this combines to make a criss cross pattern of streams that produce an even cover at any height. I've yet to experience another shower head that spreads water so consistently. I tried it with and without the flow limiter, and I think even with the flow limiter, the pressure is more than enough to make my skin tingle and rise away shampoo and body wash. As far as negatives, there's only two that come to mind. The first and foremost is the hefty price tag. This is definitely an awesome shower head, but the 6 jet version costs less than half as much and probably will be just as enjoyable. Other than that, I do miss the pulsing massage mode of my previous shower head.

Good shower head, better without flow restrictor
Purchased this on a lightning deal a few days ago, and installed it this weekend. Even after the lightning deal price, I was still a bit hesitant to spend this amount on a showerhead but took a chance on it anyhow. First impression after removing the shower head from its box was how heavy this showerhead is. It feels like a nearly solid chunk of metal as heavy as it is. I suspect this showerhead will have a long life based on the seemingly solid materials and build quality. As an added bonus, since the jets extend and retract when adjusted this seems to also provide a bit of self-cleaning action that removes some deposits and prevents the jets from clogging as easily. I read other reviews about removing the flow restrictor, but decided to try it first as-is. It was a decent performer with no modifications, especially on the finer spray settings, but it did seem to be lacking adequate flow on the heavier sprays. The black o-ring inside the neck is indeed the flow restrictor that needs to be removed. Was not able to remove it without pulling out the 4 white teeth as mentioned in another review. Pulled out those 4 white plastic teeth, removed black o-ring, and reinstalled. Water flow probably doubled. The heavier sprays now had some reasonable pressure, and the finer sprays almost felt like small needles hitting my back (but in a good, massaging sort of way). After removing the flow restrictor, I had no doubt this shower head was worth the price. Bottom line, this looks nice in my shower, it is heavy and well built, it provides a generous flow of water after removing the flow restrictor, and is easily adjustable to suit most anyone's shower style. I highly recommend, and will purchase more in the future for other showers in my home.

Best Shower Head I've Ever Used
In short, this is one of the best shower heads I have ever used. I've used many shower heads from cheap ones to 16in diameter ones and none of them beat this. It's spreads the steams out very far so it will easily cover my whole body, even better than the big diameter shower heads. What really makes this shower head amazing is the pressure that it makes. My shower has a lower water pressure and I have been looking for a shower head that could use it. The big shower diameter heads had such low pressure that you would barely feel it. Not with this shower head. It truly does as advertised and made the shower experience so much better. It truly increased the shower water pressure. The only word of caution is that it is a bit on the heavy side for a shower head. I was a bit surprised how heavy it actually was. If you have an extension, you may have to take caution that it doesn't bend/warp anything. It is a pricey shower head but it was worth every penny in my opinion. If you suffer from low water pressure. This shower head will do the trick.

Paid up for more. Got more quality. Glad I did.
I have always been one that's willing to pay more to get better quality but I do expect it. This shower head did not disappoint! It is weighty solid brass. Not cheap plastic. We built our house 23 years ago and I brought a showerhead with us because all newer construction is low pressure and that means exactly that. Low pressure. The old one finally had enough cleaning due to calcium build up and the stream became more of a garden hose flow. I tried a couple of store bought and with no success hit the reviews for feedback before settling on this one. I was a bit leery about all the feedback around removing restrictors but I have always done that anyway. When I received this one I decided to try it right out of the box. Easy to install as it just screws on with teflon tape. If you can't handle it you shouldn't be doing things like this in the first place in my opinion. Not bad but the wife and I like a high pressure shower. I removed the restrictor with a drywall screw and then took out the screen from the rubber washer so I could use it to maintain the seal when installing the head. Presto! We have everything from a waterfall to high pressure massage to needle and steam. Love it! Summary. Love it period. 2 notes. 1. I believe good products deserve credit because I no that everyone complains when something does not meet their inflated expectations and no one says anything good anymore so I will. 2. I mentioned removing the screen from the washer. That was 2 part. 1 was to be able to use the washer to seal the head on the water pipe. The second was as I mentioned we have a lot of mineral and calcium in our water and without the screen the minerals will pass through the showerhead and not clog it up.

Just spend the money -- it's worth it.
I had a basic-model Speakman in the 1990s. It was all brass, solid as a rock, simple in design and function, and probably cost about $30 at the time I purchased it. The thing would probably be still working for me, but I tossed it into garage storage when I remodeled the bathroom, and opted for a high-priced, oh-so-fancy, multi-jet shower head from a company I won't mention. When that supposedly indestructible shower head needed to be replaced due to water streaming out the side seam (!), I looked around for my old Speakman. Gone. Probably donated to Goodwill by accident. So I went online and looked for a basic Speakman. Plastic! They are all plastic now. Then I saw this baby, and I was smitten. Old-school quality, even if it does come at a new-age price. I am pleased as can be after installing and using it. The overall design could not be cleaner, the chrome plating is thick and has a gorgeous gloss, the handle moves smoothly and evenly to move through the range of flow. I love the fine spray for most washing, while the "pour" setting is great for rinsing hair. No snazzy bells and whistles here, just a good, solid shower head that should last many years. I think the reviewers complaining of inadequate water pressure may be talking about low water volume, which is a different issue. The strength of the spray this provides is quite good for a low-flow unit. I live in California, where every drop counts. (One nice little detail is that Speakman provides the pipe tape necessary for installation, so don't buy any here, as I did.)

Very good with water restriction
I found no need to remove the water saver. Gives a good range of sprays, only thing I found a little annoying, being a cold shower man, is that as you are recovering that you get a constant cold drip on you’re head for a minute or two. Also I paid £45 more that is very annoying.

best shower head around.
This is me second purchase of this product for a new location. Great item. previous one used daily for 5 years and still like new. ( never gets calcium buildup when using softened water.)

Great shower head and well made, but made in China.
Just as advertised - a solid and well made shower head. As others have pointed out, the water flow isn't awesome with the flow restrictor installed. Remove it, and it's very powerful. The packaging and website indicates made in USA, however they've changed and these are now made in China.
