It takes 30 to 45 minutes to fully night adapt and bright white lights destroy the substance rhodopsin that allows us to see in the dark. The rhodopsin will build back up given the necessary time. If maintaining night vision is important to you, this light is a good choice. I keep mine in a flashlight holster clipped to my pocket so it's always there when I need it. Another similar flashlight with only the clear lens had a lanyard attached to the end. This flashlight doesn't have a hole for a lanyard to be attached.
