Tinkyada Brown Rice Pasta, Penne, 16 Ounce (Pack of 12)

This is the best pasta I have ever eaten. It happens to be gluten free. Great for folks like me with Celiac disease.

Since i live a gluten free lifestyle, I try all the gf pastas. This is by far the best in my book with the consistency of wheat flour pastas. It's a large bag of pasta, which will make enough for at least 8 people (with heeping plates full). But once bag is opened, you have to store in plastic or glass container to keep fresh - so not convenient unless you're using entire bag at once. I've cooked it traditionally, boiling and then cooling - and also the way it suggests on bag, boil quickly and cool longer. Both work fine. Again, my favorite thing about this pasta is the texture. When I add a small amount of olive oil it melts in my mouth. The flavor is bland (which it's supposed to be - it's pasta!) and it goes well with an assortment of cheeses. They're a little more expensive than other brands, but worth it to me for taste. Love to mix it with vegetables. Enjoy!

I have Celiac and cannot eat any Gluten or Wheat products. Pasta is a favorite of mine. It took me some time and trying of different pasta products. By far 'Tinkyada Brown Rice Penne' is the best and closest to regular wheat pasta in texture & taste (mostly the texture) Once you put gravy or sauce over it, there is hardly to near none of a taste difference. If you like 'al'dente', only cook for 8 to 8 1/2 minutes after it comes to a boil. The package suggests 15 to 16 minutes. Don't do it. If you don not have a health food store near you to buy this product, you can get it shipped to you from amazon.com.

I have been eating Tinkyada pasta almost exclusively for a year now. I am allergic to yeast which means no gluten and a lot of other things and this pasta is a life saver. It cooks up perfectly (almost) every time. I have served it often during dinner parties and my guests are always shocked that this "healthy" pasta--no cardboard here! Many of my friends have switched over even though they don't "have to" because of an allergy. The Penne style pasta is great, probably one of my favorites, because the noodles are more substantial. And, being able to buy in bulk with free 2-day shipping is fantastic. Our Whole Foods sells this product for almost double, and of course, that means I have to battle my way through whole foods too--ew. I also prefer Tinkyada to the Trader Joe's brand and the Jovial brand of pastas; I find it cooks up better and more consistently and, even if its a little "over cooked" it doesn't get all "mushy" like other brands do.

I purchased this as a case of 12 and received 11. Apparently I am not able to return this item or get a refund. That's a pretty sneaky way of robbing me and not being accountable.

If you can't eat wheat pasta, Tinkyada is the brand to buy. The white rice pasta I bought at the store was mushy and didn't hold its shape. It was a pale imitation of the "real thing." But Tinkyada's pasta I can enjoy eating. As long as you cook according to the directions, you can't tell it's not "normal" pasta. I usually add a bit of oil to the water with the pasta to discourage sticking, because I don't do a very good job remembering to stir it! It's also brown rice-based, so it's healthier for you. One warning, if you put plain pasta in the fridge, it will be hardened when you pull it out. But, heat it with some sauce, or reheat it in a pan of water on the stove, and it's nice and soft again. I like the penne shape. It holds its shape well when cooked and doesn't fall apart. It's great for a casserole to be made ahead of time, as the pasta won't fall apart with reheating and lots of stirring. This shape is good with a smooth sauce, but I especially like it when there's something chunky mixed with it, such as diced tomato or meat chunks. Definitely recommend this brand, as well as this particular shape.

You cannot beat Tinkyada pastas for GF purposes. The price on here is also excellent. Other GF Pasta brands are either just nasty tasting or like glue when you cook them... not so for Tinkyada Gluten Free pastas. We have tried several varities of them and the ALL have cooked up delicious! THANKS Tinkyada for making eating pasta fun again!!!
