## Description

Con-Tact Brand Cork Roll, Self-Adhesive, 12" x 4'

Review: Expensive but worth it - We finished our kitchen remodel last month and lined some of the shelves with this cork on the shelves where glasses are stored to catch any residual dampness and also prevent breakage. Also lined the pots/pans drawer and other storage drawers to keep stuff from sliding around. Great product and I've used it in the past. 10/8/2024 - I forgot to add this: The cork is tightly rolled and doesn't want to lie down flat. Also needs some help to STICK. I had to get the hair dryer out and warm the cork, then press it down so it would stick. So this additional step took some time. To me it was worth a little extra effort, but maybe that would be a negative for some.
Review: Perfect for ceramic coasters. - I made ceramic coasters in pottery class. They were a bit uneven and I didn't want them to scratch up my glass and wood tables. I cut them with a combination of x-acto knife and scissors and they cut easily. The adhesive backing stuck in place immediately. I rubbed them down using the removed paper backing and they are clearly there for life. Forget peeling them back off to adjust the position, you need to place them right the first time or you will have to slice then off with a knife and place a new piece. They don't seem crumbly but as others have mentioned if you pick at them to try to pull the cork off then it does crumble and not hold together as a sheet. I haven't tried them in my Sizzix Big Shot yet. I only had the thin Framelits for the circle size I wanted and the cork is thicker than my Framelits. I expect to have some fun with the thicker Bigz dies though.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is it removable?**
A: Adhesive for this product either size 18" or 12" is pretty much a TRUE CONTACT CEMENT like adhesive. So we rarely apply this to anything we might want to remove it later. (NO WALLS of any kind not wood, tile. ceramic, stone and of course NO PAINTED walls and painted wallboard which most painted walls are. What we do is cut a larger piece of thin material such as polished smooth partical board and even twice a laminated formica that was flattened out via weights and heat in summer for a week to insure it's flat. Then peel this and apply leaving an equal amount around all four edges. Usually 1 to 2 inches depending on what you've chosen to use as a frame. A thin metal frame work you might even need less of an edge. This I glue in place to the backing or nail if it's thicker backing that takes a nail or smaller screws even. I will paint or finish any wood frames before actually assembling so there's no chance of getting paint on the cork. But I also have used it just as others here stated in reviews as non skid and protective bottoms of ceramic wares and the like such as tiles made into hot plate pads. The cork will protect by insulation and also from scratching buy anything set on the tile. If you find some nice flat non flimsy or unbendable for most part steel panels that also is a great choice to put the cork onto and I've made one that we didn't even bother to frame because it looked pretty finished right to the edge of the white manufactured steel panel so powder coated it's called. I bought the orginal bundle of metal sheets to make a magnetic board. Had to buy like 6 maybe 8 of them at great price years ago but slowly using them up for a number of great projects including a cork board. This cork is not super thick. But if you buy the thicker you will pay a premium price and for our basic projects it's worked fine. Love to have a roll about for numerous things. Just realized we were out and I needed just a wee strip to apply to 6 inch metal rulers for sewing room to prevent slipping on some slippery nylon pack cloth fabrics when making pencil or pen marks. And dang not one wee little 1 inch strip anywhere to be found? So happy to buy more. Stay Safe and healthy. Think outside the box and apply logic across the stratosphere of minds different chambers.

**Q: Is this made of PVC?**
A: Just cork and adhesive, paper backing.

**Q: How thick is the cork?**
A: VERT THIN! It worked for shelf lining.

**Q: Will the self adhesive easily come off if using it in cabinets and drawers or will it damage the paint?**
A: I think really anywhere you put this, it's going to leave behind the sticky adhesive. I put this on my laminated desk and I tried to pick it up and it's really stuck there. It comes up but looks tacky/sticky underneath. Other con-tact liner's would be better if you ever want to peel it off easily.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Be gentle- adhesive could be improved- thin- needs foam backer
*by C***L on August 21, 2025*

Made custom bulletin boards for my twins room. Not very thick! You also need something soft behind it to accommodate a thumbtack- be gentle as not to break it! I was attaching to painted wood- WOULD NOT STICK. I ended up mounting it to foam board from Walmart first then used double sided gorilla foam tape to attach the foam to the wood. Seems like that worked. For the price - probably fair, but you will have to get creative depending on what you are making- can add up the price of your project!
