Revelation is the first album that was fully recorded & produced at Anton's recording studio in Berlin. It is the 14th full-length release from The Brian Jonestown Massacre, recorded from late 2012 to early 2014. Anton Newcombe refined the 13 tracks that appear on the album, which also features Ricky Maymi, an original member of the band. It also features Joachim Alhund (Les Big Byrds), Constantine Karlis (Dimmer), and Ryan Van Kriedt (Asteroid #4) plus vocal performances in Swedish by Joachim Alhund (Les Big Byrds) on the opening track. This album brings the traditional Brian Jonestown Massacre sound mixed with Eastern influences and brings it up to date with the benefit of all the additional weirdness that's been discovered in the past 40 years. Two dozen band members later and numerous "ups and downs" (some have been famously sensationalized in the media), the one thing that has always remained consistent for this psychedelic collective, is front man Mr. Anton Alfred Newcombe.

Great album the song Nightbird is amazing !!!
I enjoy all of Anton’s albums I wish he and Tom would look into aspergers he clearly has it and it might help his dealings with others but with that said this is one of the bands best efforts the recording is good levels are not overdriven like some of the others are and the music and words are just amazingThis isnone of the best bands most people have heard but never known about (most tv shows and movies use bjm and their rival (faked rivalry) band dandywarhals as cutscene music) all his music is so good even the poorly recorded stuff is better than your avg regular bandLove you guysAnton your a geniusHollywood is geniusKeep the music coming if you ever come thru hell again i hope to find out so i can see you !!!! Live shows are a hit and miss mad house hopefully if you come where im at you guys keep it together and play for us instead of the petty games and fighting that is far ro common place in your shows #justsaying #bestBand #bestMusic #bestLyrics #someoftheGuitarNightbird clearly was written about my life and it plays on loops in my head nonstop !!!!#neverThoughtYouBeAJunkie !

Brian Jonestown Massacre - Revelation
Revelation is a very listenable, enjoyable album. It isn’t as experimental as “Who Killed Sgt. Pepper?” or the stellar “Aufheben.” Some might say the first half of the album is more of a return to form of Anton’s earlier work. The production is a bit more lo-fi than the explosive walls on the previous three albums. The great thing about BJM’s work is that you can put it on and get lost in their psychedelic repetition in tracks like “Vad Hande Med Dem?,” “Food For Clouds,” and the awesome “days, weeks and moths” for which I wish the lyrics were printed. The second half of the album is different, more electronic oriented with bigger sound. The danceable “Memorymix” slightly recalls Joy Division and “Fist Full Of Bees” is reminiscent of one of The Cure’s better songs. “Xibalba” is where old meets new; where the exciting repetition of guitars meets electronics and it wouldn't have been out of place on “Aufheben.”The thing so impressive about Anton which reviewers’ criminally over look is that no matter what style of music he is doing, it is almost always melodic. “Goodbye (Butterfly)” is a perfect example of Anton’s craft. If you never heard The Brian Jonestown Massacre, you could absolutely start here and you would definitely become a fan. And if you’re a fan, “Revelation” will certainly be close to the top of your BJM rotation.

Do-do, do-do...
It usually takes a few listens to get into a new album. This is now starting to sink in and float around in my brain after not too many tries. Pretty accessible across the board really and brings thoughts of sleepy hot summer afternoons doing nothing. Some great sounds and production - particularly like the flute and 'Sympathy For the Devil'-esque sounds of 'Goodbye (Butterfly)',Well worth while for existing fans and would even be a good starting point for the unsure. Looking forward to seeing them in the intimate setting of Norwich Waterfront next month (as long as I don't get stuck behind one of the pillars!).

soundtrack for the start of summer..
A few stand out tracks, and generally a great album if you like BJM you'll like this. In the vein of the more recent albums there a wide variety of sounds on here. Anton really seems to be nailing the production out there in Berlin too. Has Ricky Maymi on it too, which is never a bad thing. Bring on the UK summer tour! Lovely cover art too.

Anton delivers again!
Have listened to this several times now and I am really enjoying it. Definitely up there with the best BJM albums. The tracks "Goodbye (Butterfly)", "Food For Clouds" and "Memorymix" standout, but there's not a bad track on the album. Existing fans will not be disappointed. Can't wait to see the UK tour next month. Last time they were over touring "Aufheben" they were excellent. Never can quite understand how you can see a band as good as The Brian Jonestown Massacre live for just £17.

Dark but ecstatic.
Definitely decadent and sensational in the true sense, the sounds gently lift you through some delightful and delicate landscape of the human spirit.
