Can someone give me more detailed instructions on how to pair a second light

Initially it won't pair You just need to charge it fully until the led turns green. That will do. At least in my case that worked.

Can the sound be turned off? Item is great but sound is awful

I don't think you can. I sent mine back & bought a full set front & back. Much better quality.cost around £51 but we'll worth it & the sound is better.

Can they be used as front lights as well as back if I bought 2 pairs. And can 2 pairs work from one remote

If you use 2 sets 1 on front and 1 back on back of the bike (would be easily attached) the directions would be reversed, so you would have to use both remotes attached to the handlebars.

Is the indicator visible in daylight?

Yes, definitely under most weather conditions (but perhaps not so effective if in strong, direct summer sun - but then no light would)! They appear to be of surprisingly good quality.
