The Gigalight cable is quite stiff like other optical cable, each end of the cable is fitted with a well-finished metal HDMI head with indicator and clear marking. During installation, I avoid bending it too much for safe. Due to the current setup of my system comprising an Oppo UDP-203 4k player, Yamaha RX-A3040 AV amplifier, Panasonic AE7000 full hd projector, a LG BH200 bluray player and a Popcornhour media player…, I can only run up to 1080p 60 4:4:4 12 bit RGB video signal from the source to my projector, and hence did not test it to its upper limit of 18Gbps but only about 6Gbps. My comments below are based on my above setup and initial observations in using the cable for the past few days:1. When connecting the optical cable from the Oppo player HDMI output directly to the projector, it works great. The image is bright, with great contrast, details, and rich in color while playing back the 4K Planet Earth II and Billy Lynn’s UHD discs and a couple of bluray discs. Unlike my previous HDMI cable, the signal is stable and there is no sign of dropouts.2. However, when I connect the optical cable to the HDMI output of my AV amplifier, I could not get any image from my projector disregarding the input source selected. I did manage to change the 4k mode setting (mode 1 or 2) inside the “advanced menu” of my Yamaha AV amplifier, but the situation remains the same.3. When I connect the cable directly to the HDMI output of my LG player or media player, it works normally and a decent image is projected. While the specifications of my AV amplifier suggest that it meets 4K60 signal requirements, I believe that this may be a compatibility issue. I have contacted Gigalight about the issue and they agreed to look into it.4. As I can feed any of the HDMI signals selected from my AV amplifier to the HDMI input of the Oppo to obtain an image from the projector, the above compatibility issue, though exist, does not both me too much.Given my above comments, this is the reason why I give 4 stars to the product instead of 5. ### ⭐ Expensive dud cable. *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2017* Does not work.
